Mr.selfdestruct
I have had these on Warseer for a while now, but since I am starting to work on them again I thought I'd share here as well now that it won't get me in trouble! These are the 77th Drookian Fen Guard Light Infantry Regiment. I had originally used them with a platoon in Chimeras and a squadron of Leman Russ Battle Tanks but I have since gotten rid of the armor and kept them as a strictly light infantry force. Since these pictures were taken, I have begun work on 2 more scout sentinels, moved the Missile Laucher teams into Heavy Weapon Squads, and begun building 9 mortar teams to fill out the HWS slots. First Platoon (Blue tartan) will be put back to 50 men, flamers and power weapons added, and be accompanied by an Evicerator armed priest and a commissar. Second Platoon (ochre tartan) will likely have their kilts repainted as Im not happy with the color, get more plasma weapons, and their commanding officer is a stand in for Al'Rahem. I am filling the Rough Riders to a full 10 men, and adding a Psyker Battle Squad. After that....I'm not honestly sure but I'm going to keep going until I'm happy! I can post close-ups on anything if requested. http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x477/Marcus_Tanner/Fen%20Guard/100_7703.jpghttp://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x477/Marcus_Tanner/Fen%20Guard/100_7741.jpghttp://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x477/Marcus_Tanner/Fen%20Guard/100_7752.jpghttp://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x477/Marcus_Tanner/Fen%20Guard/100_7726.jpghttp://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x477/Marcus_Tanner/Fen%20Guard/100_7717.jpghttp://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x477/Marcus_Tanner/Fen%20Guard/100_7716.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274520-drookian-fen-guard/ Share on other sites

WarriorFish
These are great! The colour scheme and kilts are really good, but I think you should add bagpiper in the CCS to really finish the theme :) That and the odd battered Mars bar and haggis Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274520-drookian-fen-guard/#findComment-3356252 Share on other sites

Mr.selfdestruct
There are definitely bagpipers in the works (curtesy of Victoria Lamb Miniatures), I forgot to mention I'm adding a second Command Squad in order to facilitate 2 Masters of Ordinance and increasing my orders range. Part of me really wanted to just buy the Victoria Lamb kits for all of these guys but I am determined to sculpt the whole thing myself. Gratan
The Ochre tartan looks fine in the pictures. I actually like them better than the Blues myself. Otherwise, an awesome job. Love the army. Mr.selfdestruct
Quick update with pics to follow, I have completed the putty work on my masters and will be using a friends expertise to cast my own kilted bodies for my guard. I have also realized that I am crazy to want to paint another 100 kilts but dammit i gotta. I posted this question a while back with no responses...any suggestions on how to do a thematically correct psyker battle squad? Veteran Sergeant
Obviously seven feet tall and shooting lightning out their butts? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274520-drookian-fen-guard/#findComment-3436535 Share on other sites
Argun
Obviously seven feet tall and shooting lightning out their butts? With gigantic Aquilas forming wings upon their shoulders whilst they ride to battle on a carpet of Squats? On a more serious note, I am loving these guys! Wish I had the talent to make kilts like this (though they'd be more of a green color, ancestral tartan and whatnot just 'cause I'd do that if I could paint it!) Mr.selfdestruct
Funny you mention that; each platoon has an individual tartan, and the last one I plan to do is my families colors on my mother's side. onipunk
I've seen quite a few attempts to paint tartan at this scale before and they never end up looking right unless it's been by the professionals. You've managed to pull it off admirably here, and I like that each of the units has their own tartan, like the clans did. Keep up the good work dude, looking forward to seeing some tanks (with the Lion Rampant on them, obviously ).
