Torin
Good day brothers. I notice that in the new tau codex most of the unit are labelled as jetpack troop. Even the riptide is a jetpack monstrous unit. Does the term jetpack actually refer to jumptroop for the purpose of JAW. If it is so... that bad for us, no more jawing most of their units then. cheers. hrafnkel
"MOnstrous creatures, beasts, cavalry, bikes and infantry models that are touched by this line must take an initiative test." Jump infantry are a subset of the infantry group. so no reason why not. pretty much anything that isn't a vehicle or a drone can be nuked. Grimtooth
What Hraf said. Basically Tau get boned by JotWW pretty hard. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274556-jotww-vs-jetpack/#findComment-3356970 Share on other sites

Are you certain of that, because refering to the unit type jump infantry is a group of its own. Basicaly... no Jawing demon prince with wings, necron destroyer, assault marine with jump pack... but these are jump troop.. but does jet pack fall in the same group as jump troop. Because unit such as tau riptide is jetpack monstrous creature. the term jetpack = ??? . Blacksad
I believe that has been changed with 6th. jump infantery is now infantery (jump) or something like that, but still counts as infantery. Kassill
"As with Jump units, "Jet Pack" is not a classification in and of itself. Instead, you'll find it occurs in addition to another - Jet Pack Infantry, for example. If no such distinction is made in a unit entry, treat the model as Jet Pack Infantry. Lysere
The Tau suits used to be immune to Jaws because of that very reasoning, however 6th ed did change how jump and jetpack units are classified so their ability to avoid it vanished. On the plus side for Tau they have plenty of ways to deal with characters and what not so it's not like Jaws will ruin plans any more than lets say a Las Cannon to the face. Definitely a plus for the Wolves though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274556-jotww-vs-jetpack/#findComment-3357260 Share on other sites
