Landdavi
Gents, I've been using thin plastic glue to put together Ravenwing Bike and Black Knight models. Now it seems as a lot of stuff is snapping off when I play with the models. A friend of mine suggested I re-glue with thick plastic glue. I've seen videos where guys are using an adhesive along with an accelarator to make it cure very, very fast. What is the best adhesive to use for models that you intend to play with and still want to look very nice. Is there a web site to purchase your recommendation? Thanks very much in advance. Razblood
I use Revell Contacta Professional and find it to be much better than GW's current stuff, it can be found in most hobby stores on and offline. One important note about using Plastic Glue is that the surfaces that are to be glued must be clean of any paint or primer and also it helps if you roughen the surfaces with a file or emery board before gluing. This helps the glue form a stronger bond as the slightly uneven surface will melt a little and then harden into solid plastic once the glue cures. McFisty
I love the GW Butyl Acetate glue which is specific to plastic on plastic models only. I cures quickly, in a minute or two and works very well. It is my favorite and most trusted adhesive. For gluing metal to metal or metal to plastic I use almost any form of Super/Crazy glue except the GW brand. GW super glue is the worst I have ever seen in all my years and it is also way over priced. You should never need to use an accelerant to make the glue cure faster. I typically use the Loctite brand and it cures in about 30 - 60 seconds. I have also had success with the Krazy glue pen which also cures in about 30 - 60 seconds. Those other glues should be easy to find at most hardware and department stores, maybe even grocery and stationary stores. I hope that helps Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274687-adhesives/#findComment-3359217 Share on other sites
