Grey knight Rules Question; new player

Hi all! I'm pretty much totally new to 40k, so go easy here, and also if this is in the wrong section I do apologize, I figured it fit with the GK section because my questions are related to the GK codex and FAQ

Myself and my gaming friend are just starting to get beyond minor infantry skirmishes, and i've added a stormraven to my knights for some decent anti armour, while he has gotten a pair of necron flyers. I'm wondering about a few things here.

First of all, the rulebook says "If a flyer zooms, it has a combat speed of 18", and a cruising speed of 36" -- Does that mean I can only move either 18 or 36 while zooming? or between 18-36 inches which I believe is what was intended.

Next up: Power of the machine spirit.

The FAQ says to replace the land raider power of the machine spirit with the rulebook version, and the Stormraven codex entry refers to the land raider page for its rules. Does this mean that the stormraven uses the rulebook version? I think that is what is intended but it seems rather unclear, or just plain confusing.

Thanks for the help in advance!!!

You are correct; view the speeds there as "max speeds".

It's a little wonky, but the rule set is that; this is a pretty tame bit of wonkiness compared to some. smile.png

Yes, the SR uses the BRB PotMS rule; it defers to the GK LR entry, which now defers to the BRB entry. It could do to be a little clearer but, again, that goes for a lot of the rules. They're all in there, it just takes a lot of study time to get them all down.
