DIY Chapter - Sons of Lochos (Genesis Chapter Successors?)

So, this is my first steps into the world of DIY chapter creation. I am creating a Genesis Chapter successor named "Sons of Lochos". Here are some views of my first mock-up of the chapter colors and iconography. Please give any (useful) feedback, in terms of either composition, paint scheme, technique or color palate. Thank you in advance.

Looks good, I really like the Chapter badge.

 

For comments I'd say that the white paint looks a bit thick at places. Also isn't the paint scheme a bit close to Nova Marines (kind of inverse)? This is by no means a bad thing (especially if it's intentional) I'm just pointing it out in case you don't want people to make the immediate reference...

Thank you for the feedback. I am glad the chapter badge has appeal. As far as the paint scheme being close to the Nova Marines.., you are correct. There are some distinctive differences (inverse pattern, blue pauldrons on both shoulders), but overall it is pretty close. With so many chapters (and so many derived from Ultramarines gene-stock) I would suppose SOME overlap is inevitable :)

 

The challenge will be to paint/convert them well enough so that it dismisses the need for comparisons.

Another model. This one I tried to give it a better sense of action, with a less static pose.

 

I also have decided to utilize a more mute steel colored chest eagle. The gold on the previous model clashed too much imo.

Love the scheme, and you'd be right - there would be some overlap with Chapter colours, but the symbol puts paid to any confusion in my eyes ^_^

 

I take it you painted it on or did you do your own transfers?  Very nicely done in any case! ^_^

I must admit my first thoughts were Nova Marines, but I see the differences now.  And good point about the colour scheme over-lapping.  Its even mentioned with the Hawk Lords accidently getting another Chapters heraldry (EC).  Still, really crisp good looking models.  Its always hard to get a real dynamic pose with marines without heaps of cutting and sculpting but I think you nailed it pretty good.  Keep up the good work.

 

Oh, and if you want to, drop by the E Tenebrae Lux thread over in Liber.  We could use the extra DIY marines support if we hope to beat the Templars this year.

I honestly can't tell if you're using transfers for you Chapter and squad symbols! In any case, some very nice paint work
