Talon Kaine
Greetings, Well I just picked up a really large Blood Angels army from a buddy of mine and he only has them base coated. I was thinking about how I will paint the models, but I didn't want to go with the dominate color being red. The reason for this is I have a large Khorne army (Both Marines and Daemons), and do not want a second red army to paint. Therefore I was wondering would a predominately White color using Red and Gold for details (such as shoulder pads, chest details, etc..) work okay in the 40k world. Or is that paint scheme used by a different marine faction out there somewhere i'm not aware of? I don't want to confuse people and make them think I have a different faction of marines. My Death company would look like the image below...
Quixus
I'd say go for it, especially if you still use grails, angel wings and blood drops on the armor. That should make their geneseed pretty obvious Just something to think about: AFAIK heraldicly white and silver are the same color. So the Knights of Blood would have the same colors. If you want to steer away from red (more or less) completely, there is at least one canon chapter that does not use red: the Lamenters.
Talon Kaine
Changed my mind a little... i found the first pics too look a little too much like White Scars faction... considering these now. First pic is the main color of the army.... 2nd pic is of the Death Company models. You notice it's the opposite of the primary colors in reversing the whites with blacks. What do you guys think? Nexus25
Really like the new color scheme. Hope your up for the fun of halfing the helm with white and red.
Leonaides
Only thought would be don't forget you actually have to paint that on a load of little models.
Squirrelloid
I actually like the first colorscheme better. If you wanted to add some more color, instead consider adding to the initial scheme some red or gold on: (1) the kneepads (2) the wrist band (3) the shoulder pad (4) Boot and/or sole (5) Belt and/or codpiece If you do go with the 2nd scheme, I'm not sure how distinctive the death company will be.
