Mr Red

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

I'm a long way from home, and I haven't painted anything in quite a while. I was out and about in the city and saw a games workshop, they offered to let me me paint a little model to try out the new citadel basing (foundation?) paints, which were really cool! Anyways, took it home and worked on it a little more, although I don't have any model paints with me, just some galeria canvas acrylics, which weren't too bad, and a few brushes.

They informed me in the store the marine is a clip together from battle of black reach? Not familiar with the set, but the snap together is nice!

I haven't done anything more than the shoulders of course, I'm pretty much making this up as I go along so no idea what the rest will look like, anyways, here we go! Calling him Mr. Red until something more appropriate comes up smile.png

grill needs work. I don't have any metallic paints at all, and I'd like to make the grill metal, so not too much I can do on it at this point..
this is fun!

Mr. Red is made of pure win! Your free hand skills are beyond comments...

Btw the battle of the black reach was the 40k boxed set that preceded the current one (dark vengeance).

So, what's next? Plenty I hope! :D

mr red makes me mr jealous! awesome details there. bit labour intensive for a clip together mini but i suppose you work with whatever canvas you have.

yup, I think I'll ask my folks to mail me a mini or two from home. The last time I painted one was, well, a long time ago and this was a spur of the moment thing. I had a wonderful chat with the manager in the store who informed me we are now up to 6th edition? Good grief, no wonder I didn't recognize nearly anything.

First I thought, cool crackle medium. Then I saw the other soulderpad and had to look again at the first pad.

Great freehand, best I have seen for a long time.

Crackle medium? If I found some that works well that would be awesome!

.... just... wow! That is some gorgeous freehand work on the shoulder pads and the base... hope you will be posting many more pictures for us to drool over! drool.gif

Cheers!

I'll see what I can do, :)

I seriously cant believe you are achieving these results with artist's acrylic!?!

Amazing!

Good paint! Terrible coverage for something this size, but since the alternative is whiteout and pencil crayons, I'll keep using these ;)

Oh my good friend Kraegus! Glad to see your still kicking!

This marine is outstanding right from the start! I am very envious!

Still kicking, moved to the UK to study! The number of GW's here is just unbelievable, I think I've seen one in every city..! Lots of hobby shops too.. If I can just find myself a nice can of tamiya white and grey primers for other kits then I'll be laughing

How many decades will it take you to paint an army to that standard?

working ont he chest eagle.
I think I've decided to make the rest of him black. I've never painted a black figure before, so it'll be an adventure!
