you can start to see it coming together now. I don't really have a solid design for this, you find out pretty quickly what works and what doesn't work as you go, and adapt your original design accordingly

starting to come around!
this is just the same idea, you can't paint as thin as you want lines on the fig, so you paint overlapping lines with the brush, such that the width of a line then is thinned.

almost done main work.

I have to go to work and finish off some stuff in the lab, so I'll pick this up again tomorrow.
next steps are cleanup of the bits of black that need work, a small amount of highlighting and some gradient washes inside the panes to bring out the colour some more. Then I line the while thing off and call it a kneepad!

haha okay, one more.

will fix the several black lines that have ended up with different thickness tomorrow. Gonna put this down so I can tackle it fresh!
can't leave without giving you a big picture of where it sits.

have a good evening!

Had some time to work on him this evening,

some of the gold needs a little tidying up around the windows, but you get the idea.

Stunning work! How many hours of painting has it taken to get to this point so far?

about 8-10 hours, spread over the course of a few weeks. A good chunk of that time has been spent blending the right shades! I'm thinking that to do more models I really have to move away from blending from primary colours.

I'd like to go hunt down some vallejo paints, as I've never tried them before and it should make the painting process a little easier and faster.

Any ideas from UK painters? London is probably my best bet, I'm an hour west out in Oxfordshire

There are no words.

On the Vallejo front there used to be a great model shop on High Holburn (London) that had the full range but rather irritatingly they closed down a couple of weeks ago!!

But apparently they have another in Croydon...

Keep it coming brother.
