Fenric
I was wondering if there's any flier we are free to use without allies? Wouldn't think so but I haven't read the new flier book so not sure if we are allowed to use any of the Space marine fliers or not. Cate
Martok is right, if you are allowed to use FW stuff the Storm Eagle is eligible for Space Wolves Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275094-pups-with-birds/#findComment-3365941 Share on other sites

TheCrazyCaptain
I really like the Ram. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/c/caestus.pdf It can carry 10 models (special rules mean it can carry 10 terminators!)... it's designed to barge into other flyers with extra heavy front armour, and has a kick ass melta. The update for vehicles for the 6th edition clarifies it's a flyer, rather than a skimmer - and clarifies that it CAN ram other flyers, which is an exception to the rules for ramming. That said, it's big points for a single flyer, and can't be counted as a Dedicated Transport. By the time you've kitted out a Storm Eagle, you end up at least 250 points, so the Caestus is actually the cheaper option (And neither of them is a dedicated Transport- As far as I know, the Night Scythe is the only dedicated Transport that flies... Which we're probably thankful for, honestly*) *That there aren't more flying dedicated transports. skeletoro
It says in the FW 6th ed vehicles update that the caestus can ram, but where does it say it can ram fliers? dswanick
It says in the FW 6th ed vehicles update that the caestus can ram, but where does it say it can ram fliers? To my knowledge it doesn't, and it can't. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275094-pups-with-birds/#findComment-3366749 Share on other sites
TheCrazyCaptain
Supersonic (May conduct ram attacks, this is an exception to the usual rules for Flyers. The Caestus may only use the Supersonic rule on turns in which it has chosen to Zoom instead of Hovering) Sorry - I may have misread this. The Caestus can ram - and is a flyer. I took this to mean it could ram flyers. Quite possibly my mis-interpretation. TheCrazyCaptain
Well - the fluff is that it'sa boarding craft, also used for drop assaults - so would ram the side of a ship, melt the side armour with its rather hefty melta weapon, and then the tranport bays would open up, and 10 terminators would walk onto your ship. Assault Rams are void attack craft, intended to participate in close-range space boarding actions, that can also act as drop-assault vessels for direct orbital attack. ........... Compact and heavily armoured, the Caestus Assault Ram is designed to survive direct collision with an enemy, leaving only ruin in its wake. That's part of what led me to believe it could ram other flyers. Squark
Thing is, even the Thunderhawk is puny compared to the Caestus's usual prey (starships) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275094-pups-with-birds/#findComment-3366942 Share on other sites
