The "epitome" footslogging list?

Not familiar with "the must have" footslogging list, but IMO the core base for it would look something like....

1-2 Rune Priests

2-3 Grey Hunter packs 10 strong with Plasmas and various other upgrades

1-2 Long Fangs packs with Missile Launchers and possibly a lascannon or two

Other things I'd recommend would be Wolf Guard battle leaders with terminator armor leading the Grey Hunter packs, Keep em cheap with the Power Sword and storm bolter and have him take challenges and such.

Another thing which I've had decent success even in my mech lists lately is a Wolf Priest with a 10 strong Grey Hunter pack packing plasmas and other goodies outflanking.

And then to add some speed to your list I would look at a pack of Thunderwolves or even possibly some Swiftclaws/Skyclaws if you want some flavor in your list.

I'm sure others have better lists/ideas. I know I didn't give you "the must have" list, but maybe this'll spark some ideas for ya! msn-wink.gif

Thanks, pretty much knew this. I guess there isnt much else to do.

Would people suggest double rune priest or logan+rune priests?

Should Lone wolves be taken?

Should wolf scouts be taken?

I've been taking a lone wolf a lot recently, Plasma gunslinger with 2 Wolves and a melta bomb. He wrecks a lot of face but I've been having problems with him not dying before the end of the game. Despite that he's still a lot fun to play and for some reason drives my opponents insane.

I'm guessing Kassil meant wolf guard PACK leaders?

I'd probably give them a power axe and combi-plas, but it's worth considering a wolf claw (if you're not too worried about 2+ saves, It's worth the 5 point premium over a sword) or a power fist (if you want an edge in challenges and some tank busting capacty), or perhaps dropping the combi-plas. The payoff of combi plas is perhaps a little lower if you are slogging because you actually spend some time at 12-24" before being able to rapid fire the plas.

Woops, yes Pack Leaders not Battle Leaders. And the reason I simply said a Power Sword was to keep him at Initiative for Challenges/low Int opponents and keep the Ap2 killing to a GH packing an Axe or Fist.

Something that's fun as hell is to take a Wolf Priest with Saga of the Hunter.  Throw him in with some Grey Hunters and give somebody a nasty surprise, especially if they have a terminator with assault cannon and a power fist leading them ( WGPL feasible once you get into 1750/1850 territory).  Don't feel limited by the tried and true Rune Priest + GH duplicates + LF combo, as great as it is!

Problem is paying 100+ points to outflank a unit, and the fact that on average they would be lucky to come in on turn 2.

Preffered enemy is nice BUT:

While they are safe off the boad, your other units on the board are getting shot. They on average come in turn 2 or 3, by which time the footsloggers will have arrived anyway, so what is the point? Your paying points, your not protecting yourself from firepower, you are not shooting with them while they are off the board (aka you are outnumbered),, and you risk having no units on the board (aka losing) before they come in.

I prefer the "drop pod terminator+arjak" to draw fire while you advance under a runepriest cover spell.

Here you go. Fun and different:

Surely foot slogging you want some lone wolves soaking up fire? Eternal warrior, feel no pain, 2+ 3++ for less than 90 points???

His only weakness is mobility which in foot slogging is negated anyway.

I'd also pack each GH pack with a tda WG. Finally I'd get at least 1 cyclone in there.
