Rule Query, WG in drop pods+splitting

Wolf Guard in Drop pod (arjac rockfist, 7 wolf guard in power armour, 2 in terminator with cyclone missile launchers)

As you can see I want to assign 2 terminators with cyclones as squad leaders, and drop pod the rest with Arjac. Is this possible, or can they not buy the pod/embark on it due split mistiming?

IF I CANT, could I give a 5-man WG squad  a cyclone, and split that 1 model away, then drop pod the rest?

Wolf Guard in Drop Pod (Arjac Rockfist, 4 wolf guard in terminator armor, 3 combi-weapons, one heavy flamer) 315

Space Wolves, to my knowledge, are the only Codex able to put terminators in a drop pod (because we don't trust teleporter technology!).

Terminator armour counts as 2 spaces in vehicles - so Arjac and 2 terminator wolf guard would be 6 spaces out of the capacity taken up straight off.

I think that you have to have 5 terminators to be able to give the Assault Cannon or Cyclone Missile Launcher - rather than 5 wolf guard, but don't have my codex with me, so can't check.

I believe you can split wolf guard up in game to go join other squads though?

yeah you can split them off, and the requirements for the weapons only say "for every 5 wolf guard" not for every 5 in terminator armour

does it have the model count limit in the transport bit of the wolfguard section in the dex? or does it just say they can buy a drop pod? ie "if a wolfguard squad numbers less than x models they can have a drop pod"

As far as I know, splitting off wg to join squads is done at the start of the battle, and I've always done this before deployment. At deployment is where you either deploy the squad in their transport or deploy the transport on its own, so this is legal.

From the space wolf faq.

Q: When are Wolf Guard models split off to join other units under the
Pack Leaders rule? (p86)
A: Immediately before deployment.

The transport capacity is in the Dedicated Transport section - under the Drop pod bit. The number of slots each type of armour requires is determined by the special rules associated with the armour - eg. bulky.

I think the codex just says they can take a drop pod as a dedicated trasport, no requirements for how many WG you have to take to be able to do so. So, so long as the minimum requirements are met to form a squad, you could take a drop pod.

Here's a high-points game Wolf Guard pack I often run, which I've had some fun times with:

1 Wolf Guard Pack, 585 pts ((C:SW, pgs. 30 & 86))
2 Wolf Guard in Power Armour ((C:SW, pgs. 30 & 86); Infantry; Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Power Armour; Bolt Pistol; Combi-Meltagun x1; Acute Senses; And They Shall Know No Fear; Counter-attack) - these guys lead Grey Hunter packs
2 Wolf Guard in Power Armour ((C:SW, pgs. 30 & 86); Infantry; Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Power Armour; Bolt Pistol; Power Sword x1; Acute Senses; And They Shall Know No Fear; Counter-attack) - these guys beef up Long Fangs packs
1 Arjac Rockfist, The Anvil of Fenris ((C:SW, pgs. 51 & 86); Infantry; Terminator Armour; Wolftooth Necklace; Anvil Shield; Foehammer; Acute Senses; And They Shall Know No Fear; Bulky; Counter-attack; Eternal Warrior; Grimnar's Champion; Stubborn; Saga of the Bear) - Arjac goes with my Outflanking Grey Hunter pack

2 Wolf Guard in Terminator Armour ((C:SW, pgs. 30 & 86); Infantry; Terminator Armour; Power Axe; Assault Cannon; Acute Senses; And They Shall Know No Fear; Bulky; Counter-attack)
1 Wolf Guard in Terminator Armour ((C:SW, pgs. 30 & 86); Infantry; Terminator Armour; Power Axe; Combi-Meltagun; Acute Senses; And They Shall Know No Fear; Bulky; Counter-attack)
2 Wolf Guard in Terminator Armour ((C:SW, pgs. 30 & 86); Infantry; Terminator Armour; Wolf Claw; Chainfist; Acute Senses; And They Shall Know No Fear; Bulky; Counter-attack)

1 Drop Pod (Vehicle (Open-topped); 10 model capacity; Storm Bolter; Drop Pod Assault; Immobile; Inertial Guidance System)

After splitting off the four PA Wolf Guard and Arjac, this leaves the other five to go in the Drop Pod and bomb some high-value target and make themselves annoying.
