A vision of fun...

So I got this idea rolling around in my head;

Rune Priest TDA
WGTDA w/CML x2
WGTDA w/SS x2

With them just wondering around the board casting Living Lightening and firing off CML each turn. Of course we need to find someplace to toss the other 6 WG which could be in GH/BC/Swift Claw packs.

I just thought it would be funny to have this unit moving around the board with TDA and 3++ for shooting before even worrying about taking a single wound on the rune priest.

Yea, I just got to thinking of 4 missiles down range and however many Living Lightning shots is either even or surpassing some Long Fangs splitfire. In addition you have the 2+ normal save, the 3++ shields, the 5+ inv, and then a throwaway wound on the rune priest. And this is all while trudging around the field due to relentless.

Is CML Cyclone Missile Launcher? If so - you're looking at putting 2 of them in a squad of 4 wolfguard, and a rune priest?

I guess you'd be taking 10 wolfguard and splitting 6 off from the pack to form this squad? You can only take 1 cycle per 5 wolf guard in your squad - so would have to start with a 10 man squad to get 2 of them.

You can give Wolf Guard a drop pod as a dedicated transport. Space Wolves can put terminators into a pod - each terminator counts as 2 slots for capacity. A pod has a max capacity of 10 "standard" men - so 5 terminators.

I see where I miswrote TCC.

Thanks Way1

I like it. Probably not the most efficient use of points but a nice semi mobile firing unit. Probably wouldn't need a drop pod since the range is so high but it could help you get into a good position. It is a shame you can't take a prescience as your second power and master of the runes is so expensive.

I was originally thinking you put power axes on the shields and swords on the cyclones but it should probably be the opposite considering they aren't characters and you put the shields up front in CC might as well give them the best chance to swing before they die.

I am not overly concerned with close combat with the unit, but instead look at it as a mobile bunker with a 3++ save.....hahaha!

With the unit being 5 strong in TDA, a drop pod is an option, but I think the real strength lies in range of the CML and LL. Granted, I get power weapons for free with the TDA, so maybe dropping them within 24" would not be a bad idea if I kept storm bolters on the CML guys as that is just a little more weight of fire.
