Fury. Shots shots shots shots

Recommended Posts

As the title implies, I have a few questions about fury of the legions (and been drinking a bottle of wine or two).

I keep hearing people say that a 20 man squad can unleash 80 shots against an enemy when in rapid fire range and doing Fury. However the betrayal "codex" states that the unit may make an additional shot than usual.

So why isn't it that you make three shots for every legionary so 60 would be the actual number?

Please comment and discuss. I wanted to add about a drinking game for fury of the legion and et cetera, but didn't know how mods would respond too :P so just stick to fury thanks

The Fury of the Legion roll only applies to bolter (including combiweapon profiles) and bolt pistols.  But it is a calculated risk.... that squad cannot shoot at all (including overwatch) till after the shooting phase of their next turn.

Personally, I will avoid using Fury of the Legion attacks unless i have another unit in weapons range to support the squad doing it.  I do not like the idea of leaving a squad running around for a turn that cannot defend itself.

the only real problem is that they might get charged and not be able to overwatch, so basically you'd be trading a round of snap fire to fire it at full effect and do it before the enemy has another chance to shoot at you as well, meaning you will have more guns firing.

the fury attack is absolutely worth it because it allows you to shoot fully twice, not just get in one extra shot, so you are basically taking two round of shooting at once, it means you will get to shoot with guns that will likely be dead in the next turn, and since you're that close, they are almost definitely going to get charged, so you're getting a round of shooting that you wouldn't normally get, except as snap fire.

fury doesn't really lose you anything except overwatch, you basically move a turn of shooting ahead, which can only be good, because you are probably going to lose guys before would have gotten to shoot again, so you're getting to fire with guns that won't be there a turn later.  don't alternate your fury attacks, shoot them both as soon as you are in range.  get the maximum effect out of your guns while you still can.
