irwit
Hi all Ive posted something similar in the lists section but think it is probably better discussed in here without the specifics of points counts and such. Ive been thinking of running a hq heavy list at 1650 for reasons that I take ages to paint models so the less models I have the more likely I will have a finished army. In terms of units I am thinking about, Wolf Lords on TWC, Logan, Arjac, Slogging Lord in TDA with SS, some TWC models, Predators, and a couple of squads of grey hunters. Does this sound like a disaster waiting to happen or could this kind of list actually win a game or two ? WolfLordSam
I have the same problem, which is why one of my main lists is this: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275121-2000pts-twc-tide/. I'm also working on a list with Arjac, 4 WG in TDA, a Wolf Priest, 2packs each of LF, GH, and a couple of Aegis lines. I had Logan, but decided to go with a mix of ranged and CC, rather than just CC. skeletoro
I'm not sure. But I suspect rune priests may be better for HQ spam. Cheap and flexible, IMO! I take ages too. I'm a perfectionist. After over a year... I'm still assembling grey hunters pack #1. irwit
So maybe a couple of lords and a couple of rune priests then ? I've got some thunder wolf cavalry to work my way through, storm shields make the expensive pretty quickly. So heres an idea fo rthe list then. HQ - 705pts Lord, twc, th, ss,, runic, necklace, eternal warrior saga, 275 Lord, th, ss, necklace, TDA, 190 RP, chooser 110 RP, chooser, TDA, 130 Troops - 305pts 10 GH, banner, mark, 2x plasma, 1x PA 185 5 GH, plasma, pod, 120 Heavy - 360pts 3 x Predator, Lascannon sponsons, 360 total 1385 Leaves me 265 points to play with ? TWC Lord charges up, TDA lord slogs with 10GHs and 2 RPs. Podding Ghs create cover for sloggers. this so far sounds like a terrible plan ??? HELP! I would at least finish the podding hunters and take either another plasma or a melta. That would still leave 190pts, have you considered maybe a dread? irwit
If you are master of runes, and so can cast 2 powers per turn, can you cast the same power twice? Is, jaws twice per turn? I'm just being silly here but 4 rune priests in a pod, turn one, 8 jaws of the wolf. Its got to be doing some serious damage. Rt throw in arjac in there too to get the biggest threat down to i1. Jarl Deathwolf
Nope, you have to cast different powers. I learned that the hard way when I tried to cast Prescience twice, one on each Long Fang pack. My foe stopped me and made Master of Runes a bit less awesome that day. Kassill
Gonna echo eyeslikethunder in that you need more Grey Hunters. They are one of the best troops and in the wide variety of scenarios, still play a key position. I would definitely finish out the second pack and grab that free special weapon. I'd even go as far as to say grab another Hunter pack, as I believe, like many, at least 1 troop per 500pts, so 1650 would be 3. irwit
So is it that you cannot use the same power? Could you also only do one shooting attack? So you could still get 4 jaws shots turn one in enemies deployment? Have a couple of master or runes for 5+ cover, divination, etc. I think that could be pretty brutal. So if you land on a model that has i6 with 3 shots, theres a 50% chances he's a goner and that is with int 6. Into 5 he is in theory a definite goner! eyeslikethunder
Yes you could get 4 jaws shots and casts other Powers like stormcaller I have loved having 3 jaws priests in the past to snipe people and destroy death stars But not BrB powers as you can't mix and match codex and brb powers it's one or the other per priest Also only one rune priest can have one set of powers which if all of them have jaws leaves you little other options to cast as you can only use one shooting attack(witchfire) a turn and most the codex powers are shooting attacks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275258-hq-heavy-lists-viable/#findComment-3368772 Share on other sites
