Volktie Cannonade!

Recommended Posts

Greetings chaps

Most of you will have seen the Recent pics from the Forgeworld open day and saw what we thought was a massive volkite turret on the fellblade.

However leafing through this month's white dwarf I came across this pic, and thought you might be interested.

Alongside the Archeotech Pistol (All I can think of is a revolver with thermonuclear rounds, lol) , the Volkite weaponry is the coolest idea ever.

Martian death ray pistol? Don't mind if I do.

Martian death ray rifle? Why, yes, I'd love one!

Martian Death Ray Cannon? Aw, hells yes!!

Martian Death Ray artillery the size of a freakin' city block?!? (*awesomeness-induced head explosion*)

I still have the inkling impression that the fellblade cannon mount shown on the FW Open Day is a plasma blaster of some sort, problem is both it and its volkite counterparts share the same ribbed spine design that gives away their true nature. I'd still wager the above picture to be early-WIP though, but I'm too divided to place my money on that fellblade cannon being of Volkite variety, especially on the note that both history and the above picture suggest Volkite barrels to be consistently oval in shape; perhaps that should become the new identifier for Volkites.

On the note of Volkites, I imagine the end result of Culverins, as long as its not shoulder mounted, to look very similar to 40k Plasma Cannon models. Still, I'd rather they made Calivers shoot 2/4 instead of having a direct trade between number of number of weapons/shots per weapon with their bigger Culverin brother.

Right but then what was at the Open Day? Can we honestly say that we are certain that what was shown on that open day fellblade was not the final stage of this WD-shown WIP? Not even talking about the cupola, the barrels look extremely shifty; more shaped place holders than anything else.

Edit: keep in mind that WD's are written close to a month in advance, and that picture is certainly older than that.

Well the rest of the text from the WD article states in no uncertain terms this is a volkite cannonade. Take a leaf through a local copy for more info. I'd say that the open day model is gonna be a plasma variant.

I'm surprised Olis hasn't popped up in this topic yet though....
