Deployment: Templars deploy first: Aegis Defense Line cuts the board ranging from corner forest on one side to the other edge of the table on the other side. Gun emplacement placed in the middle, to be able to shoot on both sides of the big building. Both dual-CML terminators set by the centre, to be able to move both by need right or left of the building. Each wing of the Aegis DL covered by one Archer squad, 3 speeders set up behind cover as forward as possible. Eldar: Prism tank by the distant board edge cleverly behind some trees (using 60’’ range), 3 War Walkers (one unit) in the forest in the corner covering the Eldar deployment zone by 6 Scatter Lasers to protect it against possible Drop Pod, both Pathfinder squads with one Farseer attached in one small building (ground floor and 1st floor), Wave Serpent with Fire Dragons loaded in it quite forward placed mostly uncover, Wraithlord hiding just behind the Wave Serpent. Eldrad with 7 Warlocks in the open (having their own 3-4 Inv anyway) very forward. Eldar player decides not to use nor Infiltrate neither scout moves. 1st Turn: Templars: Eldar did not steel initiative. No night fight. Drop Pod landed just next to the Fire Prism tank, behind the building with 10 Pathfinders. Troops with Emperors Champion jumping out. Speeders move 12’’ forward in the open, finding no better cover save then own 5+ jink save. I wanted to use great chance to be able to shoot at the Eldrad squad before he casts Fortune on himself, shooting all 6 missiles from Typhoons and all 3 Heavy Bolters at his Warlock squad. Two first blasts and H. Bolter shots killed 3 Warlocks, letting Eldrad in the front line from one side. So I send 2 krak missiles hoping to instant kill him, both missed. Blasts and shots from the third Speeder from another side killed another Warlock, 3 plus Eldrad remaining. One dual-CML had nothing to shoot at, second one shot at the Wave Serpent with Fire Dragons, managing only to Shake it and take 1 HP down. In the back, Suicide mission guys didn’t manage to do any harm to the Prism Tank. Eldar: Eldrads squad ran forward as far as possible, placing some Fortune and Guide on someone, Eldrich storm caused Eldrads brain to overheat a little, ending with smoke rising from his ears and 1 Wound down, causing no other harm to me. Snipers in the building turned back, sniping 5 Templars, and 3 War Walkers raising above the trees turned and aimed all 6 Scatter Lasers at 3 remaining Templars, evaporating two, while last standing Champion made 13 saves in the row, standing wounded. Eldrad himself sent a letter with sign of respect regarding that champion to the Emperor himself, noting that he is worth his title. Except of wiping out suicidal Drop Pod Squad (not counting the Champion) and gaining First Blood by it, Eldar didn’t manage to cause any other harm to the Templars. 2nd Turn: Templars: Wounded Champion marched thru the debris in the ruins of the house where are hiding Pathfinders and the FarSeer, while the Speeders still move forward. Terminators in the fort move only a little. One speeder missed the Prism Tank altogether, the second killed another Warlock (Eldrad plus one remain), and third glancing poor badly placed Wave Serpent. Missile Launcher from behind the Aegis Defense Line took the Wave Serpent down, uncovering the Wraithlord standing behind it, who immediately got wounded array of missiles from dual CML. Emperors Champion declared challenge on the Farseer, who accepted, and got his skull chopped into two (ID), causing no harm to the epic sole Champion. Eldar: Wounded Wraithlord towards one Speeder, chopping it into pieces by his giant sword, Fire Prism blasted another, but only Shook it, Pathfinders didn’t manage to snipe the Speeder down. War Walkers finally shot the Champion down. Eldrad crouched in the big building behind a thick wall, not knowing if it is worse to keep crawling and shaking behind the wall, or showing his head out of the window, facing 10 missiles and Quad Gun. Rest made short: We got both a little stuck, with Fire Dragons, two squads of Pathinders and Fire Prism on one side able to shoot AP2, supported by Eldrad, and my 4-squad “castle defense force” on the Templar side, no one wanted to move out of the trenches. Second Speeder shot down, third got back to be able to take 2p objective in the mid-field later. Wraithlord survived array of 8 missiles (with 1 wound left), but troop Missile Launcher finally shot him down, Pathfinders stood back immortal with their 2+ cover save. Fire Prism shot blast on one of the troops, who couldn’t go to ground, to be able to get to the objective in the 5th turn, killing 4 of the 5. In the end, Eldar decided to move forward – Pathfinders moved forward, still terribly in cover and unwounded, 3 Walkers finally got from the forest in the range of Templar Missiles, first shot down by missiles, and second shot down from behind by storm bolter in still living Drop Pod (2 glances). Eldrad finally took all his self-confidence to look out of the window, as he didn’t want to be remembered as a coward crouching in the corner, casting some petty S3 AP- spell, getting two unsaved S8 missiles as an answer (honour his memory). In the 5th turn (no night fight again), Templar troops ran to 4p and 3p objectives, last remaining Speeder moved to 2p in the mid-field, but it got shot down. Pathfinders stood so greatly covered that they were too distant from any of the objectives. The battle ended after 5th turn. Result: Templars 8 (4p Obj, 3p Obj, 1p Slay the Warlord) : Eldar 4 (3 Fast units down – 3p, First Blood 1p) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275372-1500p-black-templars-vs-eldar-battrep/ Share on other sites
Sanguis militis
Although I'm a true son of sanguinius, sometimes I play my Angels as Templars for shots and giggles.. I always enjoy to see them stomp out some Xenos and heretics. Good show mate Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275372-1500p-black-templars-vs-eldar-battrep/#findComment-3370672 Share on other sites
