bebe
So I have run this unit a fw times now. It is not cheap - almost 240 points - A squad of twenty seekers cost the same amount Herald of Slaanesh - Lvl 1, Steed, Locus of Beguilement, Lesser Reward (Aetherblade) 115 16x Furies of Slaanesh - 120 The level 1 is in the hope I grab a good power from the excess table. I will tale lash but would really prefer -5 to I ... I can ignore the warp 2 nova powers so my odds are not terrible getting something useful. With rerolls to hit the unit actually competes well for number of hits and wounds with seekers in the first round of combat. It will eat through 6 meqs on the charge so it is pwerfect for devastator squads, havocs, thunderfire cannons, firewarrior squads, truborn, etc. It is fast as well and it has rending as all slaanesh models do. The rub is whether it is better than it's competition at the cost. For the points I can get a pretty potent plague drone squad, a decent fleshound squad, seekers. I'm disatisfied with my furies but I wonder if is actually worth fielding. I had them ranked as a tier two choice in the new codex. But running a Slaanesh/Tzeentch force they fit in nicely. Anyone else use these guys at all? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275421-chaos-furies-of-slaanesh/ Share on other sites
Fibonacci
Worse still, I think your math is a little off. I'm coming up with 133 points for 16 Furies. 5 at base. 11 at per model cost 16 getting upgrade to daemon of slaanesh Even still, 133 points is cheap for jump infantry. But is it worth it for Furies? They can not fire an emplaced gun so no taking over your opponent's Defense line gun. 1 attack but it's Rending. S4 is alright, T3 not so much. Ld 2?! So you will have to keep an HQ with them or lose them to instability right away. They are alomst a good choice in several ways but they seem to always fall short. Not quite horde cheap cost for not quite horde stats. I honestly cannot say if they are worth it or not since so far I have not actually put a unit of furies on the table. I can't convience myself they are worth taking a chance on them so I would actully defer to your opinion on how they play. SamuraiOrk
I'd say they have a place in the army, though for pure offensive power and even defensive power the Seekers run rings around Furies of Slaanesh. Here's some Mathhammer for some averages. ON THE CHARGE VS x10 SM (average unsaved wounds) x8 Flesh Hounds (128pt) = 3.45 unsaved wounds x5 Screamers (125pt) = 1.65 unsaved wounds x3 Plague Drones (126pt) = 1.49 unsaved wounds x10 Seekers (120pt) = 5.80 unsaved wounds (4.36 being rending) x15 Furies of Slaan. (125pt) = 4.15 unsaved wounds (2.50 being rending) Furies do score a pretty high number too but defensively they fall down being slower and having a lower WS than Seekers more will fall in combat which may be fatal with their Ld. I'd go Seekers or Flesh Hounds every time. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275421-chaos-furies-of-slaanesh/#findComment-3371403 Share on other sites
Cheex
Pure maths aside, the squad could be useful in picking apart enemies in ruins. The Herald would have to stay behind, but the rest of the unit at least can jump up to root out entrenched enemies on higher levels.
