eyeslikethunder
Its my favourite choice of weapons. It gives you 2 AP2 weapons which is useful vs 2+ save targets and good for vehicle hunting +1 on the damage table. You can lose a weapon and still carry a threat. YOu can rapid fire under 12" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275426-tournament-list-building-razor-back-weapons/#findComment-3371018 Share on other sites
Castellan Michael
Plazorbacks are my favorite for the same reasons. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275426-tournament-list-building-razor-back-weapons/#findComment-3371426 Share on other sites
Rift Blade
THey are best in 2's or 3's but even on their own they are pretty good. Especially suited to Long Fangs who tend to be at the back of your army most times. ZayWolf
best to magnatize the Razorback so that you can equip them for whatever situation. the plasma cannon seems like a good route, i roll too many 1's to put plasma cannons on my long fangs so i choose to go with missle launchers and lascannonc for them with a rune priest giving them prescience(twin-linked) and if im lucky perfect timing (ignore cover) ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275426-tournament-list-building-razor-back-weapons/#findComment-3371608 Share on other sites
skeletoro
I'd probably advocate assault cannons if you're planning on getting close, TL las cannons if you're staying at range. Las plas is definitely tempting, but you can only fire one weapon at full BS at most, while moving. And it may be annoying having to fire your plas against the same target as the las (doh! Front AV 13!) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275426-tournament-list-building-razor-back-weapons/#findComment-3371751 Share on other sites
Castellan Michael
The biggest benefit to the plazorback is potential 3 shots of ap 2 and it is two weapon systems. Do not run stormbolsters stormbolsters or hunter killers on my razorbacks, there is nothing worse than losing your one weapon system. Why would you want to use a razorback with Longfangs as a mobile unit? If you place them in a rhino two can fire out out of it and it's cheaper. I use razorbacks in the rear with the gear to help with long range support as well as back up for the longfangs. Assault cannons do help to detour outflankers and make light weight antiair...and if your about to get zapped by a hell drake you can always hide inside. Squark
Asscan razorbacks have better anti-air potential and are better against larger units, while the Plaserback gives you a good supply of AP2. The tactical versatility of the twin-linked plasma gun generally far outweighs the twin-linked element of the TL-Lascannon. Razorbacks aren't really good at preventing heldrake attacks, though, as popping a Rhino with a vector strike is fairly easy, and a squad of six is basically guaranteed to be wiped out. Still, Mech is still nearly as good, if not just as good, as it has been for a long time. Just remember proper armor saturation- For 1000+ point games, running fewer than 4 light vehicles just gives you the disadvantage of running mech (Giving up first Blood) without the advantages. skeletoro
Yeah, plas certainly has a lot of potential. It's just logistically difficult. If you're gunboating, you will have range issues. If you're planning on actually moving with it, you're going to be firing lots of snap shots. That said, a TL lascannon is 32/36 lascannon hits per shooting phase. A lascannon + snap shot TL plasma gun is 24/36 lascannon hits, plus 11/36 plasma gun hits (double if rapid firing). You're still getting pretty good value even while having to snap shoot. Grimtooth
Just with test rolling my dice cubes, I am pretty impressed with asscans versus most flyers. The bonus comes in that having to snap shot against flyers anyway, there really isn't a penalty for moving around the board to get to the lower armor rears of some flyers.
