questions for an iron hand successor to avoid namedrop/ect

so a few questions the iron hand are stated as having five successors (well 4 plus them) after the second founding. but correct me if i'm wrong wasn't the 2nd founding rewritten to have hundreds of chapters instead of dozens? so would that number then go up even if not stated currently as the higher number is from newer fluff.

i don't want to name drop any known chapter other then to say the gene-seed is iron hand and their philosophy is similar. plus it seems some of the know successors may not use the clan system and that system is important to the founding i have i plotted.

i want to have the chapter form somewhere around the 3-5 founding i could go out as far as the 10th. i want the chapter to form about 1500yrs after the founding their parent chapter.  they form in a way that i now realize is unfortunately similar to the way the sons of medusa formed. however it is for a very different reason and not nearly as hostile. though i never addressed the issue of ratifying the chapter. for with as bad as records are how would anyone really find out for sure, how do you broach the subject of asking a chapter for their papers, and  finally their are plenty of chapters that don't know their origin.

i need  the years to explain events that shaped them in to what they are now. their time with their parent chapter, their rebuilding, and their isolation. all three of which explain their current identity. so it helps if they are from an earlier founding.

i still think a schism type event is better then a normal founding. i could change the notes i have on their founding but i already have it plotted out. but a change to both the founding and the organization system of their parent chapter. Would be very large change as they explain their chapter name and the origin of their somewhat divergent chapter identity from the baseline iron hand view.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

my children of eternity is 3rd or 4th founding. i used the brazen claws as a founder. originally i used sons of medusa before GW fluffed them out which made me have to modify alot of things. I used the BC only in that theyre geneseed was used. outside of that, they have absolutely no connection to them.

i suggest if you want them old go for 3rd-5th founding, and use the brazen claws or red talons. there known IH successors but really nothing has been written about them, and i highly doubt GW ever will.

The Emperor's Shadows are a DIY chapter made by one of the staff members At GW. Obviously their is no known fluff on them. here is a VERY SHORT lexicanum article on them.

i think the only error in the lexicanum article is stating they wear dark green armor, definitely looks black, charcoal or a VERY dark blue armor.

I think using them would be fine. there is no source of anything on them given that they are a DIY. So go for it.

The Howling Griffons were a DIY chapter as well, so there's definitely no problem in using a Chapter that a GW employee thought up.  Sons of Jaghatai, Knights of Dorn and the Hospitallers are all other examples of GW staff-made Chapters that are all considered canon now.

exetus i had no idea the Howling griffons were a DIY. They are so fluffed out now.

i love the hospitallers scheme, love to see them fluffed out officially.

have fun with the emperors shadows and your guys. IH are a fun and unique geneseed to work with. many things can be taken literal or metaphysical/esoteric with them. i had a heck of alot of fun writing my Children of Eternity. Im sure you will find it equally as fun. cant wait to see it fluffed out smile.png
