Kais Klip
"Converted" my Space Marine army to play mainly HH, this is what I have so far:Alpha LegionRorarii (Legiones Astartes) Praetor (190)Terminator Paragon Blade; Digital weapons; Terminator IronHalo; Terminator grenade harness; Terminator Armour.7 Terminators (310)Sergeant (Pair of Lightning claws ; Grenade harness); 2×Additional Terminator; Heavy flamer ; 4× Power Fist; 2× Lightning Claw;Chainfist.Contemptor Dreadnought (215)Kheres Pattern assault cannon; Kheres Patttern assaultcannon; Extra armour . 2 Apothecaries (110)2× Artificer armour.Dreadnought (165)Siege Wrecker w/ twin-linked bolter; Extra armour ; ArmouredCeramite .18 Line Legionaires (299)Sergeant (Power fist ; Artificer Armour ); 8× AdditionalLegionaire; 17× Additional close combat weapon; Legion Vexilla .10 Assault Legionaires (295)Sergeant (Power fist; Artificer armour); 2× Power weapon.8 Tactical Support Legionaires (250)3× Additional Legionaire; 7× Plasma gun.RhinoArmoured Carrier (35)Vindicator (130)Extra armour. 1999 pointsThe main premise is to strike one flank with the ad-hoc terminator praetor bodyguard, CC dreadnought and Vindicator, while the rest of the force sets up between them and the pivoting enemy half, whittling away with pew pew before absorbing the melee charge, at which point what's left of the first wave counterattacks, while the ASM serve as a rapid reaction force on the very last turns where its needed. At least, that's the plan until primarch/Reaver flavoured death gets involved and I resort to mobbing away units one by one a la the Sons of Horus I should probably be playing.++++++++++++++++++++The Vindicator is converted and can be switched between a Whirlwind (mainly for the Helios) and a rhino, apart from that all I have standing by are 5 scout marines, thunderfire cannon & techie, a chaplain, a redeemer Land Raider (I do have a sizable amount of battlesuits to convert to thallax if I go for a mechanicum contigent), 2 HBs, 2 Missile launchers and 2 Plasmas (nothing to scavenge 2 more of any from) and 13 more terminators, however I'm not a fan of a deathwing-esque force (half of the termies are from the Space Hulk set, turns out a worthy investment on my part). It has come to my mind that I can pull a significant Pride of the Legion, however not am I keen on fielding some fluff Imperial Army Armour operatives some time in the future as allies, but I also find vets to be too vulnerable for the... 3 extra points they cost over normal legionaries considering they die at exactly the same rate. It's high time I grab something from FW, if only to congratulate them on the new organisation of the Heresy tab (check it out), and I had my eyes set on grabbing 10 Mk IV Legionaires, but looking at my list I must agree with what my gaming group has been criticising and that is a horrendous lack of ranged anti-tank; looking at the lists about here I feel like I'll get tanked shocked right out of the gaming club where I to face one of them. So, any critiques and suggestions to kick me in the right direction? Maximum I'm feeling of letting go on this rainy tuesday is enough for a typhon, which has been catching my eye quite often, however for Alpha Legion it feels slightly... unsubtle. geordie
Hey man, Gotta say firstly I haven't played many games lately so take my opinion with a pinch of salt; At this points level the main critique I can see is a lack of ranged anti-tank. The list I'm putting together at 2000pts has a couple of Landraiders and I could see this list really struggling to deal with that sort of heavy armour or similar, such as a Typhon/Spartan. I would personally target the Vindicator and plasma support squad first and then there'd be little to threaten my heavy armour. I would be tempted to try replacing the siegewrecker dreadnought and 2/3 terminators with a Landraider Phobos. This would give the footslogging HQ more protection, they could still assault out of it too. This third hard target alongside the Contemptor and Vindicator would present increased split fire between the enemies anti-tank fire. Also the Landraiders twin linked lascannons are decent anti-tank themselves. I just feel that footslogging 500pts of HQ/terminators is just asking to be hit with a pie plate, apothecary or not they would be unlikely to survive long. Just my 2 pence.
