Battle against Grey Knights, what to use?

Recommended Posts

So, we are having a ''league'' tourni at my area.

We will play 5 games in total.

We can freely change the list depending on the opponent we are having.

We play at 2000 (double force) and there are no named characters and no allies.

My first opponent happens to be grey knights and since the lists can be tailored i am sure i would have a very hard time.

I have no slaanesh units except for a Keeper of secrets and a single unit of fients. I also don't have fleshhounds or furies. Anything else you could think of i have it.

So with the above information what kind of list would you make to fight Grey knights?

My opponent don't usually field terminators and i don't remember him taking paladins ever, but i guess there is always a first time.

My main problems will be his Dreadknights. (Fortunatly even at double force he can't field more than 2 since he doesn't have more)

Any help so i can put up a good fight is apreciated.

I know... especially the flesh hounds but i just don't have the money to make a decent unit since you need at least 10 and they cost like a big flyier (something i don't have either) seekers are also a problem because again you need to take a lot to make an effective unit.

Fantasy chaos hounds+spiky bits= win..... So long as you put some effort into converting them I haven't heard of anyone not being able to get away with using them, especially since 20 flesh hounds is like 140 quid or something mental like that....

I got the game today. I won the game mostly because of two lucky rolls and the fact that my opponent was playing very defensive.

MVP of the match was father nurgle himself :P . The first warp storm effect i got was rot glorious rot and i wiped a 5 man strike squad giving me first blood on a relic mission. (I had no way of getting first blood in first turn and he had plenty on his turn, actually he did killed a unit on his turn)

The relic was inside a forest that when i rolled to see what mysterious effect it had i got the 3+ cover forest that made my horror unkillable no matter how much he shoot them.

On a final note i beleive i need more fiends, they are golden against grey knights especially when they don't bring dreadnoughts and choose the dreadknights instead.

Killed two dreadknights with my Bloodthirsters because 6 fiends where nearby and he failed Dark exomunicatum and force weapon (One knight died by the Axe insta death and the other in two rounds of combat)

That first blood was one of the best first blood i ever got. I so beleive that even if i wasn't that lucky i could have won.

The lists we played on relic mission where:

He had 2 teleport dreadknights,

2 purifiers one of which a death star with grand master and inquisitor and everything you could possibly think (his biggest mistake imo was that he played defensive with that unit waitting behind a defence line for me to go him. He even made them scoring with the grand master but didn't try to take the relic.)

2 small strike squads

2 purgation squads

a henchmen squad with banishers and a chimera.

I played 3 bloodthirsters

big horror unit with herald and grimoire

2 small horror units

1 small letter unit

6 fiends

a skullcannon

and a unit of 4 bloodcrushers.

Since my opponent had no long range except from a lascannon on the aegis that i destroyed early with the big horror unit it was left unchecked.

It almost killed the entire henchman squad with the banisher when they finally got out of their chimera to rapid fire my last fiends. And provided grenades when my warlord charged a purifier squad killing 3 models including the justicar at the same time.

A very good performance for the points i paid for it.
