GOFADK
Anybody using Lucius Pattern Droppods or do you stick with the normal droppod? Are the LPD worth 65pts + a dangerous terrain test?
Seahawk
Always. Assaulting after deep striking is very powerful, especially with, say, an AV13 walker.
dswanick
Yes, routinely in Apocalypse and occasionally for my C:SW Bjorn in regular games. Just be aware: you can't take it in C:BA outside of Apocalypse.
Squirrelloid
Wait, its specifically denied Blood Angels but not other SM armies... that's pretty lame.
dswanick
Wait, its specifically denied Blood Angels but not other SM armies... that's pretty lame. "The Lucius Pattern Drop Pod may be purchased as a dedicated transport for any loyalist Dreadnought (including Contemptor Dreadnoughts) in Apocalypse gmaes. Otherwise a Lucius Pattern Dreadnought Drop Pod is a seperate Fast Attack choice for either a Codex Space Marine, Codex Dark Angels, Codex Space Wolves, or a Codex Black Templars army, and must be occupied by a single Dreadnought of any type from that army assigned to it before the game begins.", IAA 2nd Ed, pg.32 You could use it to transport an Allied Dreadnought, but it would be crazy-powerful as a ride for a Furioso. Ushtarador
They realized that it was kinda stupid to drop in 2 furiosos turn 1 and munch up 2 squads with no way to stop them Honestly, I wouldn't use them with BA even if I could, exactly for that reason - it wouldn't be fun anymore. Jolemai
How would you modify a regular Pod for it to pass as a Lucius Pod? Just remove the insides and weaponry?
dswanick
How would you modify a regular Pod for it to pass as a Lucius Pod? Just remove the insides and weaponry? That would be a simple solution.
MadGreek
I think Lucius Pods only have three doors. Probably because bigger doors make easier egress for the Dread, thus allowing the Assault. Would be up to your game opponent as to whether you could "count as."
