My little contribution to the sons of Sanguinius

Hello Blood Angels!

After realising I happened to have the colours required to paint your Marines I felt compelled to try a test mini. I was pleased with the result so did a whole squad.

I've been playing under the Templars codex since I began the hobby (last August) but painting black, black and black (with a bit of white) was slowly killing the hobby for me. That, and the ancient Codex which struggles to be competitive (for a newbie like me anyway).

Hopefully my efforts are of an acceptable standard. I've never really painted minis other than BT, and I'm not an experienced painter to begin with, so open the spoiler at your own peril, these minis are far from perfect. Anyhow, enjoy if you can! I apologise for the lack of close-ups, my photography skills exist mainly in my mind.

seems a good solid start to me mate, welcome to the joy of blood angels...personally I find the bloods so much more optimistic and cheery than the mean and brooding dark angels, or Templars.  much more into appreciating life and beauty, art, fine wine and the like before slaughtering the enemies of man mercilessly and with extreme prejudice!

reds are a nice rewarding colour to paint, and everyone's mix is that little bit different, so keep painting and keep posting.

Thanks!

Evil Sunz Scarlet is a wonderful colour to work with, certainly. Blood Angels really stand out on the table, whereas Templars just blend in. You can't really see them if you're more than 5 metres from the table.

I plan on painting some Termies next, and eventually my Land Raider Crusader.

Looking good. And welcome to the Blood Angels.

If you feel for painting more then jump on the ETL train and complete a vow.

That's how I started my painting career. I was into playing, not painting, BA. A LPC and a ETL has broadened my joy of the hobby considerably. :)

For a first (and even 2nd or 3rd) go at BA's thats pretty good... (one of these days I will stick some pics of my oldest models up here - horrible paintjobs from 2nd ed).

If you think you're going to want to paint a bit more in the next couple of months I agree with Taranis - join us for the ETL painting vows.
