Gideon999
Hello Brothers! I am putting together a tournament list, and I am going to be using Wolves as my main detachment and Blood Angels allies. In order to get my BA troops into my wolves army, I am using a squad of 5 scouts. My main army looks like this : Rune Priest - Divination 4 squads of grey hunters, each 10 strong - double melta, banner, Drop Pod - double melta, banner, Drop Pod - double plasma, banner, power axe, Rhino - double flamer, banner, power axe, Rhino 2 squads of long fangs, each 6 strong - both with 5 missile launchers Dreadnaught - assault cannon and DCCW w/Storm Bolter, Drop Pod Aegis Defense Line with Quad Gun The allied Blood Angels will look like this: Librarian - Divination Scout Squad, 5 men StormRaven Gunship - Typhoon Launcher - TL Lascannon So the idea will be to use the dread and melta squads to pin the other guy in place early, and drive the Rhinos to midfield in support while the librarian and rune priest use divination behine the aegis line to missile stuff. The raven is there for added anti-air and for additional punch and threat. So the issue is the scouts, I have run them as snipers up to now, and they NEVER get any use out of those guns. They shoot and miss or hit and dont wound, whatever. I was thinking of using them to outflank for a change or as a speedbump close combat squad. How have people been using scouts in 6th with effect up to now? Would you recommend BP and CCW or boltguns? I dont want to go shotguns as I dont have the models for that and the tournament is wysiwig, but I could do either of the other two I mentioned. Thoughts? THanks for your ideas! MayorDaley
The BA scout Sgt can have combi-melta and sniper rifle. In 5th ed I would run that combo with a locater beacon, and melta bombs. Infiltrate, scout move, hopefully pop tank, if not... assault with the melta bombs. It was a pain in the butt to model WYSIWYG, so I ended up putting a meltagun, and the melta bomb on his base. Food for thought Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275538-allied-scout-loadout/#findComment-3372701 Share on other sites
Gideon999
I had a similar thought, but would have trouble finding the points for the extra bells and whistles. Still could sacrifice the typhoon launcher on the stormraven to free up the points I suppose. For the rest of the guys though, bolters or BP/CCW? MayorDaley
I ended up just going with the sniper rifles and missle launcher. The thought process was get the tank, camp out, and take potshots at rear/side armour. MM on the SR is just lovely IMO. It can smoke most other flyers. Why the LC upgrade btw? The AC can strip hullpoints quicker. More shots to dump into infantry as well. Unless of course you already modeled the LC on yer bird! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275538-allied-scout-loadout/#findComment-3372898 Share on other sites
Squark
Hrrm.. You're kind of light on vehicles that start on the board... I don't think the rhinos have a very good chance of surviving. Gideon999
The Rhino's will live only by virtue of having the other guy dealing with 2 pods worth of troops in his face. They only really need to make it to turn 2 and then they can be mobile cover from that point on. The Raven I treat kind of like a large typhoon speeder. The AC does strip faster but I find with the typhoon launcher and lascannon I can switch to hover mode when Im out of missiles and just coast the edge of the board and abuse my range to keep alive longer. At least thats the idea. :-) Yeah, maybe the sniper rifles are the best idea overall. Back to the drawing board! Thanks for the input!
