Marshal Wilhelm
G'day all, I have long thought of C:GK as the strongest of the PA dexes. Certainly in 5th, though 6th might be a little murkier. Even so, things like no Melta Guns, or Storm Shields, can leave even those with the mighty Grey Knights as their army to look with want at other Space Marine's goodies. Which Marine codex, and why, would be your desired guest under the Allies system? Is it some Vulkan-lead Salamanders to get the best Meltas the Imperium has to offer - and some Hammernators with a re-roll to hit? Or Dark Angels for the cheapest Devastators to get some infantry based >36" shooting into your list, plus being able to bring some Termies with Hammernators woven into the mix? Or Black Templars for twin CML Terminators? Or Blood Angels to get a Greater Daemon into your list? etc. Who are your preferred Space Marine allies, and why? I'm assuming games played between 1.5 - 2K in points, but feel free to comment if outside of that range ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275594-which-codex-of-marines-would-you-like-to-host/ Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
Dark Angels. For Belial as a workable Mordrak. Any Marines for Snipers, as Henchmen Blood Angels for Sanguinary Guard as our Interceptors. Space Wolves for Thunderwolf Cavalry as Mechanical Horse mounted Knights! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275594-which-codex-of-marines-would-you-like-to-host/#findComment-3373399 Share on other sites

Hahahaa! :P I guess I'm thinking, who do you feel adds something that fills a space [ie Storm Shields, with ++ saves] or adds to what already exists [sternguard, with shootiness] for C:GK. But that is just a spit ball, you can answer in anyway you like :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/275594-which-codex-of-marines-would-you-like-to-host/#findComment-3373408 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
Our TDA do lack Storm Shields, but apart from Scoring, I'd be hard pressed to decide why to choose GKT over others. Sormbolter + Nemesis Daemonhammer is basically equivalent to normal TDA SB+Power Fist. Our GKT have Halberds +2I over Lightning Claws, but with the loss of I from Furious Charge, (and AP3 Power Weapons...) it's not as required as before. We lack Plasma shots on Strikes, but I don't want to pay more than a Purifier just to get special Ammo. We can take S5 Bolter Rounds anyway. While we now have the only Imperial MC, we lack any Cavalry. But then so do every other Marine force. I don't get why we don't have Speeders or Preds. And giving most of our squads Deep Strike is nice, but I'd rather have had the option for a Drop Pod. DPA and Guidance is worth the 35 point cost. I've been quite vocal about using other Marines to simulate Strikes, such as Wolfguard with Stormbolters (1 point more expensive, lose the Force Weapon but gain +1A), but it's the lack of Snipers I miss the most.
