HJL
i like it. When i first looked i thought, oooo chaos Blood Ravens! you should paint a shoulder pad bone and see what it looks like.
Firepower
Red, black, silver...yep, hard to go wrong with that. Far from original, but it works. That said, it's painted very well. The one spot that looks like it could use work is the face. It looks like a pretty much solid coat of paint, no detail.
chosonofchaos
Thanks for the replies so far. Red, black, silver...yep, hard to go wrong with that. Far from original, but it works. That said, it's painted very well. The one spot that looks like it could use work is the face. It looks like a pretty much solid coat of paint, no detail. The face does have some small subtle details. It just looks that way from the lighting but i might try adding more detail.
Prot
A very nice clean red... almost too clean even with the obvious battle damage, but it looks really nice. Great job.
chosonofchaos
A very nice clean red... almost too clean even with the obvious battle damage, but it looks really nice. Great job. You're right, it is a bit too clean for chaos standards. I was thinking of adding some weathering effects but i don't really know a good way to do it. Any ideas would be good. Thanks. Urauloth
Looks pretty sweet, that's a nice shade of red. The shading and highlighting is all neatly done - quite basic, but good clean work, which is ideal for minis you're going to be painting a lot of. A squad done up like this will look great on the table. Only complaint is the slight mould line on the fingers of his left hand. Those finger mould lines are a bugger to remove and quite easy to miss, but keep an eye out for them on your future models.
chosonofchaos
Thanks again for the nice comments. I've finaly finished the first 5 man squad for my army. I was also thinking of adding mud effects tho their boots but dont know if i should or not?
Firepower
Muddy shoes (a few dark brown washes and a drybrushing if lighter brown on the edges) and if at all possible, some sponge weathering too. Those big bullet holes and gashes look bizarre on otherwise pristine armor. All or nothing man :)
Cretheus
i find i a really easy way get some weathering powders ( I personally like MIG) then mix with water until a wash consistencecy the wash away at the lower part of the leg. fo this instages to get desired effect. plus its water soluble so if you dont like it you cant just wash it away wish some water and a cotton bud! will say though you will need to varnish the mini after otherwise its a bit messy lol!
