TDAWG load outs

With 6th edition making termis slightly better, what is the load out that you are running for your TDAWG packs? I'm not talking about WG to be split into pack leaders. I am an avid LoganWing player (still) and I want to know others ideal load outs.

I usually run this:

5x TDAWG

Power Sword/Storm Bolter/Cyclone Missile Launcer OR Assault Cannon (Pack role depending)

Wolf Claw/Combi-Plas

Wolf Claw/Combi-Plas

Wolf Claw/Combi-melta

Wolf Claw/Combi-melta

All wrapped up in a Drop Pod

Keep in mind this is my all comers load out. I would be interested to hear what others run for certain roles as well.

Kind of a SW noob but seems like there's a lack of AP2 in melee. Though I'm sure you'll shoot up any terminator squads with those combi-plasmas before you get into CC. Overall its a great all-comer unit. Even though they're AP3 wolf claws are still pretty nasty.

I was thinking along the lines of:

Wolf Guard TDA x5
Combi-Plasma   x2
Combi-Melta x2
Power Weapon (axe or sword not sure)
Chainfist
Powerfist
Lightning Claw x2
Assault Cannon  or CML and also add another Combi Weapon

Joins the battle either in a DP or LR

Depends on the role, but I usually go:

5 TDAWG in drop pod

Cyclone missile, Power Axe, SB (he will be hiding in back, so the I1 is less detrimental)

4 x Combi plasma (the dp should help you avoid av14)

With 2 krak missiles and 8 plasma shots at 12", something is going to die. They have never fail to destroy or maim their primary target and after they unload, they will become huge bullet magnets. In a Loganwing list, they can score as well (if they live)

Combiweapons are gold as TDA can't get the bonus attack from anything but two specialist weapons.

I have lots of Wolf Guard TDA so can use just about any combination for tailoring. I'm not a huge fan of putting CML's in packs that are going to drop pod, but rather the meager Heavy Flamer is my personal favorite. CML's always get regulated to Long Fang duty in my style of play. My typical drop pod all comers group is usually something like this:

5x WGTDA

4x Combi Plas

1x Heavy Flamer

2x Wolf Claws

2x Chainfists

1x Power Axe

Drop Pod

I definitely see that I have missed a heavy hitter for the pack. And as I think the TDA axe from the termi kit is great to look at, I will add a power axe to the mix and see how that does.

I have a pack that I have been running with a power armored Wolf Priest with Saga of the Hunter that consists of a similar build as yours jbickd. 4 combi-plas, a heavy flamer (sometimes an asBault cannon) and wolf claws on all. I use it for killing elites mostly. I took out 3 broadsides with them the other day. That felt really good, let me tell you!! Of course I went on to lose the match due to support fire... Drop pods are key these days against most armies. And to be honest, I didn't saturate my target priorities either. but this is neither the time or place for that discussion!!

I've been giggling quietly about this for months, myself. I'm dreading the day when I tell my opponent "... and my T-Dawgs will be deploying via Drop Pod..."

So glad I'm the only one who laughs at that :) . But anyway...

My T-DAWGs, which I've had some success with against Tau, Eldar and Marines runs like this:

1: Frost Sword, Assault Cannon

2: Power Axe, Combi-Plasma

3: Power-Axe, Combi-Melta

4: Wolf Claw, Combi-Plasma

5: Frost Sword, Combi-Melta

Basically, I drop pod in, blow up a vehicle or strafe a squad, endure some fire and charge. 4 Plasma shots, 2 Melta shots and 4 Assault Cannon. It is a glorious thing and eats stuff apart like no other. Sometimes, when I have the points, I exchange the Power Axe for a Power Fist, or exchane the Assault Cannon for a Cyclone Missile Launcher, but I prefer the 1) Awesome look of the Assault Cannon and 2) the volume of fire power. It doesn't matter its shorter range since it should always be close up anyway.

Add in a Battle Leader named Daryl...

...and his other brother Daryl? :P

Nope, his brothers name was Merle...

All those power fists add up to very expensive. And an equivalent number of points of power axes actually outperform power fists against pretty much any infantry. The role of the fist is as an accompaniment to a wolf claw, or as an anti-tank/dread/MC option (but you may not want to give EVERY model one of these - overkill!)

Personally, I think it's better to save the points on the fist and keep most of the models with axes. But combi-weapons are definitely worth considering.

I have a dilemma.

My "TDAWGS" represent my Iron hands Clan's top tier veterans and their "honor guard" of sorts, with Arjac being my Clan's champion. That being said I have ten to make and I want them to be dangerous and uniform. I was going to make Flails as counts as Thammers & have a mix of storm shields and combi-weapons throughout. Two will have heavy weapons, one with a Cyclone to go with my Long Fangs and one with an AC to drop with either a grey hunter pack or to go with the other TDAWGS.

The issue I am facing is that my guys are getting expensive fast. A SS/TH TDAWG is 50% more expensive than a loyalist equivalent (unless my math is off, which is possible)

High Champion Gorant, Grand Champion of Bracchus, Bane of Weakness - (Arjac Rockfist)

Veteran - (Wolf Guard) - TDA / Combi-Plasma & Thunder Hammer (Flail)

Veteran - (Wolf Guard) - TDA / Combi-Melta & Thunder Hammer (Flail)

Veteran - (Wolf Guard) - TDA / Combi-Plasma & Thunder Hammer (Flail)

Veteran - (Wolf Guard) - TDA / Combi-Plasma & Power Axe (Halberd)

Veteran - (Wolf Guard) - TDA / Combi-Melta & Power Axe (Halberd)

Veteran - (Wolf Guard) - TDA / Storm Shield & Thunder Hammer (Flail)

Veteran - (Wolf Guard) - TDA / Storm Shield & Power Axe (Halberd)

Clave Primus - (Wolf Guard Pack Leader) - TDA / Combi-Plasma / Cyclone Missile Launcher / Power Axe (Halberd)

Clave Primus - (Wolf Guard Pack Leader) - TDA / Assault Cannon / Chain Fist

I can mix and match as needed, generally both "Clave Primus'" would be with other units, leaving one squad to drop with Arjac and another to drop with a HQ.

In Total, without Pods, it'll run me 662 points.

What do you guys think?

Congratulations, you've just discover one of the major flaws in Codex: Space Wolves - you want variety, it's gonna cost you.
