Alternative Lascannons for Tactical Marines

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I'm looking for conversion or third party ideas for lascannons being carried by devastators or tactical squads. Bit sellers are charging close to 10$ USD for the lascannon and the full mini from gw is 14$, which isn't really my cup of tea.

I've been checking around the third party sites I know of but I don't think reaper mini has anything and I've checked scibor, puppetswar, and kromlech and couldn't find anything (the last was redoing their website so I literally couldn't find anything.)

anyway, I'm hoping that you guys may have some alternate ideas and things I may not have heard of or thought to do 9as conversion ideas are welcome as well)

Most of my suggestions would involve Terminator heavy flamers and Predator lascannon sponsons, unfortunately (Land Raider and Razorback ones are a tad too big for portable ones. Then again...).

The Forge World Legion Heavy Weapons pack is cool for it too, but probably costs more than your'e willing to shell out.

I just dug around in my bits box and I'm pretty sure the only difference between a SM lascannon and an IG one is the lenght of the barrel lack of stock and how the the energy cables attach to the body of the gun.

You can probably get an IG lascannon for cheaper, glue the powercell on the side or find another suitable alternative powersource and have your marines carry these around. Depending on whether you like the look or not you might have to shorten the barrel. Since they don't have sights I'd just slap a head with bionics on the Marines that carry them and call it a day.

IG weapons teams lascannons are significantly bigger.

Take a heavy bolter, change the ammo feed to tubes, cut the muzzle off, glue on plastic tubing at various lengths and give it a lascannon style muzzle break?

Okay you made me go back and dig a little deeper.

It would look less elegant but you could still shorten it enough to make it work on a Marine in my opinion.

for my army, all Lascannons are being replaced with Anvil industry Rail guns

a more elegant weapon, for an age in dire need of civilizing.

Thanks for the help! Those anvil industries ones look awesome, however postage to US alone would kill me. I managed to find 9 guys at my lgs, 8 of which are already modeled as dark angels! A quick dip in LA's totally awesome and they'll be ready to go.
