Painting Competition- Conversion Suggestion

Alright, so a painting comp has sprung up here and I have decided to use a mice stormtalon for my entry. But instead of using the standard model, I wanted to deck it out to stand out! I'm not sure what to do though, aside from greenstuffing, but I'm not that good at that. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

 

the colours are mainly Dark Elf Shadow as the main, with Gold thrown in here and there and other colours to add contrast.

I currently have two stormtalons under construction - as far as conversions go I've tried to streamline them without losing the overall shape. I've removed the lower tail fin/rear landing gear on both of them, put the nose assault cannons pointing straight ahead in the nose without the swivelling part, and removed the side weapon pods and attached lascannon barrels directly to their mounting blocks, with a little extra armour to bulk out the blocks slightly.

The second one has a small missile pod I salvaged from a zoid under the nose, and the assault cannons will be mounted on the weapon pod blocks, same as the lascannons on the first one.

Overall, I think that SM aircraft can always benefit from a little steamlining, and any alternative parts you can find to acheive this are worth using, be they wings, weapons, or whatever. Also, and this goes for absolutely any model, be it figure, terrain, vehicle or otherwise, you can never go wrong with adding battle damage. Even a kit built straight out of the box with no other conversions can look as great as the most elaborate of kitbashes or conversions with some well thought out, and carefully applied and painted wear and tear.
