Marshal Wilhelm
Personally I love TDA armies or 'wings's. GKT based forces are what I regularly field. Not Paladins, Terminators. Some of my more common lists feature 20/25 with them although as that will indicate in itself, I do tend to play large point games. My friends and I play 2,500 games and will sometimes drop to 2,00 for smaller games lol. I'm not entirely sure I understand what you're asking MW. Can all Terminator lists work? Sure. They aren't going to beat everyone, every time, but they can certainly hold their own. Getting roflstomped isn't something I've ever had happen to me using TDA based lists. In the army list section you may find a few recent threads by myself about TDA based lists and 'Big and Stompy' based lists. Just my cuppa tea. Regarding allying in other units of Terminators - I wouldn't fancy it personally as ours are very good all rounders and it avoids having the ally HQ/Troop tax - but if you really wanted to for a specific reason - such as a love for DA Knights - then go for it. Just keep the HQ/Troop expenditure minimal. You'll not be winning hardcore tournaments with them - but I very much doubt you'll have a game where your opponent doesn't have to work damned hard to beat you down. The local GW Heldrake addicts despise my TDA with a passion. You've answered my question: they are not going to be a pushover army. Yay! I don't need a pure pwnage army, but I would like one that doesn't see my beaten automatically just because I chose Scissors in a world of Rocks ^_^ I think I can 'dodge' the Ally tax, somewhat, by taking just an el cheapo HQ from both Dexes. A 30 pt Inquisitor and a Librarian, or something like that. I think HQs are generally poor in terms of bang for buck anyway, so buying some bench warmers who offer psychic protection, etc, might be a steal. 1500 pts tends to be what many Aussies play. Blackwinter
in my last local tourney in a 1500 pts list i fielded 15 termies. the one with 10 bodies rocked. i gave them a OMI with psycannon and with divination primaris. and the real trick was the psybolt ammuniton. 3 relentless psycannons and S5 stormbolters with rerolls evaporated everything that they deal with. AV 11 vehicles and T4 opponents cried. And with banner 3 hammers and rest with halberds was so good in CC. jeffersonian000
My all TDA 1500pt list has 25 models, and does fairly well against most opponents. I never lost to a massacre, and rarely lose more than a handful of models. Quite frankly, I can't remember ever having lost an entire unit! Yet, when I've lost a game, its been due to my low model count. Can't hold enough objectives, or kill enough enemy units, to matter. Which isn't to say that's a bad thing, just that I have to be an 'elite' player to win with an 'elite' army. And that is where the fun is for me, making less mistakes than my opponent to turn a draw into a win, or a lost into a draw.
