What army do you struggle with the most?

If you footslog, you can take 10 GH and a wolf guard in terminator armour/arjac rockfist and as many HQ's as you want...just sayin ;).

Otherwise though most people take 10 GH. You can compensate by giving a WG a combi-weapon if you decide to take him.

Sounds good I was going to pod in the GH and rhino a squad a squad or 2.. I will just have to see what works. My brother plays tyranids so he said he was going to try and visit me today so we can play a quick game. I have never played against nids maybe once so I have no idea what to expect its such a rare army nobody plays them.

Fortress of Redemption. I consider it an army of its own, ever since I faced it when it was allied with Sisters of Battle. The Sisters of Battle were all massacred to my frag missiles and TDA pack, but two Grey Hunter packs, and two packs of Long Fangs (also known as almost my entire army) was killed by the Fortress of Redemption's krak storm missile launcher.

Heldrake I usually kill after one or two turns. Krakstorm takes either outflanking or berserk charging to kill. Thankfully, my one surviving unit became so by using Saga of the Hunter, and melta bombs.

Long Fangs on upper levels of ruins. No matter what Chaos players think the rules for using a template will not allow a Heldrake to use the Baleflamer on them as they are NOT one of the units allowed to place the template on any level.

Oh could you please let me know where this says? I know my friend and I will need proof of this sicne this is something we must have missed.

It is in the ruins section of the BRB where it explains firing blast, barrage, and template weapons in ruins. There is a specific list of unit types that are allowed to fire on any level of a set of ruins, and flyers are not on that list. The only way flyers can hit any level of a ruin with a template is if they hover at which time they are treated as a skimmer. Skimmers are one of the units on that list of unit types allowed to target all levels of a ruin with template weapons.

So what level they able to target is open to conjecture? So GW never ruled on it? My local nemesis plays CSM with Necron alies...I loved the fact that the eratta on Imhotep made him lighting his allies!

I hate that they faq'ed the helldrake to be able to flame 360º. My best friend plays IG and CSM together, so my wolves get to look into the sky and then die.

field 5 three autocannon sabre platforms in an allied platoon and see how he reacts to that! that's 30 twin linked interceptor skyfire autocannon shots!

I don't usually do allies, but that sounds crazy. Ally with SM? Are those like the hyperios platforms? About how much would that run both in game and out?

those are imperial guard sabre platforms, they can be taken as part of a platoon instead of heavy weapon teams(5 units per platoon, 3 models/unit) as per IA:aeronautica and IA volume one second edition. and they rock! the twin linked autocannon model comes out 10 points cheaper then a standard landspeeder.

this means that that air support comes in at 600 pts, +2 infantry sqd (100 pts)+platoon command(35)+company command squad (50)= 785 pts. sure, that's a lot of points, but i'dd like to see someone take this off the board. due to interceptor and skyfire they work just like normal autocannon heavy weapon teams, but they also have the option to blast any deepstrikers that deepstrike close to them into oblivion.

Moneywise they are much more expensive though(22£ each) if you buy the forgeworld models. I've made my own conversions (http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270281-sabre-heavy-weapon-platform-finalius-pattern/?do=findComment&comment=3292527).

note that my comment about fielding that many of them was more made as a ridiculous reaction, however it might open up some players their eyes.

Ok, as I do not own imperial air, does the hyperios platform have to take a command platform and how many is enough to deal with two fliers? At $35 a piece plus the book, I am hoping you guys say two.

My local meta doesn't have any air spam so the most that usually gets fielded is two. Although the turkey is a staple.

The forgeworld ones look awesome but are really pricey. You could always scratch build your own. I know there there are a few places that sell missile pod type things that can be used as ground emplacements with a bit of converting and are significantly cheaper. Around 15 pounds for 3 of those Missile pods, i think.

If however you NEED to buy the forgeworld ones. one maxed unit should be enough, Either 3 of the Hyperios and a command platform or 4 hyperios platforms (split them into two seperate units)

Don't forget those things can fire at ground units too. So they are extra missile spam for us. =]

Cheap is always good but sometimes you have to consider your gaming club & any potential rules it has. My area allows ForgeWorld but if you want to use it in a Tournament & you 're converting, it has to be as close as possible as you can get & it can not be smaller then the actual model. In fact, conversions have to be OK'd by the TO before you play with them in a tournament here. THe Hyperios missile system is the same size as the Whirlwind launchers so plugging them into a Razorback's(or Whirlwind) top hull plate, cutting off the grills/loading hatches & then putting them on legs should work for most people. The only thing else to consider I would think would be some type of targeting unit between the pods. Perhaps a small box type piece with the little radar dish from the rhino set & a maybe a piece of small wooden dowel & bevel one edge. Long story short, buy Whirlwind if you are going to buy Rhinos & 2 units for the price of one. Or, like has been suggested, buy a third party missile pod & do the same. But, like I said, that depends on your gaming area & what they consider fair. Hope that helps.
