Guest Drunk Guardian
I struggle with high mobility, high firepower, long range armies, like Eldar, especially when paired with Tau. These armies have no need to assault my armies, so the mid-range shoot then overwatch strategy is practically useless. It's extremely difficult to close and make a kill with these armies, so the best I can do is castle around objectives and hope to whether the storm. The worst is killpoint games, I basically stand no chance in those games against the armies described above. Ghostwolfalpha
You can't fight them on their terms, you need to throw a wrench in the gears. Drop pods and whirlwinds do very well vs both tau and eldar. Put objectives on their side of the board and rush them while using dp units to cut off escape routes and limit movement options. Also wolf scouts and a SotH WP can help with this. hendrik
that's because your strategy relies on the fact that your opponent closes in on you, going by your comment. Howe you considered getting droppods? they allow a similar playstyle, yet offer you some form of mobility, not to mention board control. nothing messes up a players battle plan more than a couple of units deploying right into his deployment zone on turn one. to do the objective sitting, get a cheap allied imperial guard detactment. for 250ish points they can bring a lot of bodies that can do the sitting while the rest of your army does the killing Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/276235-what-army-do-you-struggle-with-the-most/page/3/#findComment-3391042 Share on other sites
Rift Blade
Don't let them dictate the terms of the battle. Are they hard to close with? Oh yeah. Herd them with your fire base units & keep 1 or 2 fast moving assault units just behind & like a true wolf, pounce forward once they are hemmed in. Just don't let them bait you with sacrifice units so they can mow you down once you kill off the bait. Wolf Scouts are good against these armies. A 5 man pack with 2 plasma pistols & a melta or plasma gun coming in on any possible table edge will make them change their tactics. Lately I use 2 of these packs. I don't know if it will help with the new codexs for both armies but hope it helps.
