Which Ghost Knight do you like? Update: Ghosts Finished

Hey Everyone!

I was hoping you guys could help me decided which paint option looks best for my Ghost Knights. For the longest time they just been grey blobs, but I thought it was time to finish them up. I'm still working on a way to make my mist effect look a little better, so what you see isn't final.

Thanks for the input!

I have now got the image of LoTR's ghost warriors in my head for the colour scheme of all Ghost-things biggrin.png

I guess that doesn't answer your question though....

I think the white one offers greater contrast. The thing is, do you want them to stand out more so, or not, with regards to the rest of your GK?

His Ghost Knights also have hairy feet like the Hobbits from the LoTR.

Neat idea! Really love the "misty" look. I think the white is a little better-looking, but still tends to make the model look, well, ... solid. Have you considered that eery green pallor that GW has used on its Lord of the Rings ghost army models?

I've been looking at a lot of pictures of Ghost Knights online and I have seen the lord of the rings paint option, but I don't think my skill level is up to the task. So I guess I'm looking to make them look different than the rest of the army and be at a skill level i'm able to do. Though I really only need 5-8 done. Maybe I can get my friend who is way better to give it a try.

I put the test to the wife and she picked the Blue one, going on the bases that it looked more dead than the white one. I have some skull head bits coming my way too, hoping that will really make them stand out as well.

I have an Army of the Dead for LOTR,  There are very simple to paint i find.

Base black, heavy dry brushes of White, dark Green, light Green, dark Green wash. then finish off with a light dry brush/highlight green, Pick out details.

Unfortunately I do not have the army out to take photographs.

But to the point of you post,  I'm not sure I like the mist, good idea don't get me wrong and it's interesting to see something different, but the White one is nice.

The White gets my vote!

imo, i would say the white one, because, at least from the pics, the grey one just doesnt look painted.... however, a kind of shortcut, if you wanna try some test models, use that white one as a base, and use washes (of whatever color, i could see a light blue as an option, since your GKs are what's considered the normal paint scheme and is generally washed in Asyrman Blue [or whatever its called now. lol]) to add the color changes. the washes will be darker in crevices and lighter in high areas, and just use a couple coats until your get the depth you are looking for. May be worth trying

The wife won out and i've went with the blue ghost knight. I think they turned out pretty well.

Really liking this take on the Ghost Knights mate smile.png Good job thumbsup.gif

Edit: If I may make one piece of constructive criticism, I would try to darken up the skulls a little if I were you. One of those skulls looks darker than the others and it is better than the whiter ones imo smile.png
