Grimtooth
Had a game today that inspired this thread and maybe others will join in. Most of us use sagas in one form or the other, but how about we share those specific times that your member of the Rout especially lived up to his chosen saga. I will start it out with my game today; Wolf Priest Fyri truly walked the path of the Hunter today. During a training exercise today against a Space Marine force, Fyri led Grey Hunter Pack Biflindi into position to outflank directly behind a Space Marine Devastator Squad in their deployment area who had obviously been very lax in keeping an eye on their six. After neutralizing the squad, they then went on to eliminate a Scout Squad attempting to regroup and return to cover after heavy losses from Thunderwolf Pack Atrithi and eliminate a Tactical Squad that was targetning Long Fang Pack Harbardr. Alll while remaining within the enemy deployment zone and surviving the training exercise. Truly a saga well earned and honored! **Really was surprised to see the effectiveness of the saga and what it was able to deliver into the enemy deployment zone. As this was an escalation league game, with the next points level a Wolf Guard Pack Leader will be joining them for added power. Ghostwolfalpha
I had a Saga of the Bear Thunderwolf Lord run up the board with his pack of 3 Thunderwolf Cavalry and lay waste to a unit of genestealers, lost both Fenrisian Wolves, but otherwise they only lost one wound. Unfortunately, they got shot up on my opponent's turn and due to rolling a 1 to consolidate, the lord couldn't tank it. Having now lost the entire pack, he rushed up the board to support my grey hunters and the turn before he would have made contact with a squad of gaunts fighting my hunters, a Trygon Prime shows its ugly mug. Now there is the fight he has been looking for. Yet again, luck would have the Trygon get the charge, but it was my lord who got the last word. I ended up losing on objectives due to a guant spewing monster... but the lord survived and put the trygon in the ground. Had it gone one more turn, I would have had it. Well fought Ramses, its good to see you show our brothers who the king of the hill is. Blacksad
a few days ago, I decided to have a go at those flying daemon circus thingies, and asked a daemonplaying friend of mine if he wanted to play a list like that against my SW. I had a Runepriest with saga of the beastslayer and master of runes. He killed 2 daemonprinces AND a bloodthirster in CC. gotta love difficult terrain :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/276375-sagas-of-the-aett/#findComment-3386069 Share on other sites

Reede
The other day I played a 2v1 match at 1250pts. 500pts of Orks and 750 Sally Marines (No Vulkan, but lots of flamers / meltas). The Sally's brought up the left side of the table with two tactical squads, with a Captain and Hamminators as the vanguard. Orks brought up the right with a stormboy squad of 5, Nob squad of 5, and a Boyz squad with warboss (equipped with power claw) on the right.I had deployed first with a Long fangs pack w/ Rune Priest and a Grey Hunter squad on the left ready to strike against the Sallys. A Grey Hunter squad on the right brought it upon themselves to stand as the lone defense against the Ork Waaaaaaaaaagh. A wolf priest leading blood claws and Wolf Guard in a drop pod would arrive in reserves to help turn the tide.As the Wolf Guard and Left flank hammered away at the Sally's. The single squad of Grey Hunters, unleashed Hel upon the green raiders. After taking fire from the entire green horde and loosing a man, the Wolves returned fire of their own, killing and wounding the Nobz only to be fired upon again and then assaulted by the Nobz and Storm Boyz. After meeting the Orks face to face in the ruins they had positioned themselves in, they lead a slaughter of the Storm Boyz. The Nobz, seeing the death that awaited them turned tale and ran, only to be cut down by the Wolves. They then fired into the Warboss mob, killing Boyz left and right. The wolves met the mob head on and slaughtered the Boyz down to the warboss. As their fate looked grim the Wolf Priest and his squad of Blood Claws rushed into the fray, overwhelming the warboss and cutting him down, leaving two Grey Hunters remaining. However they weren't done there, continuing to fire and assault the remaining Deffkotpa's killing one, before the Priest and his claws could finish them in combat. With one surviving pack member, for his honour in combat, he will most assuredly be promoted to Wolf Guard. montegue
Told this story earlier, but will do so again here, because it's appropriate. In the third game of the Alamo, I faced off against our eternal rivals, the Dark Angels. My warlord decided to outflank Belial's rear guard and so did not take the field immediately. The battle went back and forth in those first few volleys, with the Long Fangs showing their worth by crippling a land raider in the first round of shooting. Wolf Guard terminators distracted the enemy by landing in their faces and decimating the Guard allies that manned the Quad Gun. It wasn't long before the Thunder Lord came onto the field. He quickly charged the enemy, and cut down Dark Angel marines alongside his other Thunderwolf riding wolf guard. However, the storm turned dark when Belial and ten Dark Angels in Terminator armor teleported near the Grey Hunters who bravely held their objective. The terminators opened fire, alongside a Dreadnaught that had also slammed into the field in a Drop Pod. There was a real danger that the Objectives would be lost. My Lord and his cavalry charged across the battlefield and slammed into Belial's terminators. Their powerfists made short work of the wolf guard, but the Lord stood firm and slaughtered every terminator to a man. Belial himself was pulled behind their lines, unable to answer my Lord's challenge until all of his men had paid for his cowardice with their lives. He quickly joined them. Jarl Deathwolf
The dour Wolf Priest Lokyar the Silent joined the Sun Wolves pack in their extermination of renegade Sisters of Battle. When battle was joined by Lokyar, he saw that his brothers had been slain by the foul Fortress which the Sisters hid within. Outflanking within the minimum range of their guns, his pack mowed down rank after rank of Traitors, and Lokyar himself annihilated an entire half of the fortress with his melta bombs. Victory and vengeance was claimed that day, thanks to the stealth of the hunter! Grimtooth
Rune Priest Alrik, formerly Sigvid was hunched down with members of Long Fang Pack Harbardr sending both missiles and bolts of Living Lightning into the massed xenos of Hive Fleet Archin, seeking the larger xenos to disrupt the hive mind coordination between the synapse creatures and underlings. Without warning, the ground trembled and from nearby a Trygon Prime erupted from the earth. Two members of pack Harbardr fell to the bioelectrified spines fired from the beast's back, but not before being able to fire upon and wounding the beast. Realizing that the Grey Hunter Packs on the field of battle would still need the remaining heavy weapon support, Alrik charged the monstrosity alone, swinging his mighty force weapon and burying the full smile of the axe into the beasts chest. Focusing his mind to a razors edge, Alrik called upon the power of his home planet and the life force of the giant xenos was extinguished. However in it's last death throes, Alrik was impaled and wounded griavely. Although he would be in the Red Dream for many months, Alrik would return to the field of battle many times again, his saga as a beastslayer forever remembered by the skjalds. **An amazing act of heroisim and self sacrifice. I had to detach my rune priest from the Long Fangs to keep them out of close combat with the Trygon Prime. If I remember correctly, I got one hit and then amazingly rolled a 6 to wound. I then made my psychic test, despite the Shadow in the Warp, to activate the force weapon and kill the monster. Grimtooth
Murderous Hurricane would just jack up a flying circus because if they need to treat all terrain as both difficult and dangerous, that means they test when they assault and hence strike at I1 even in wide open terrain. Grimtooth
Doesn't work for any army with assault grenades, but wrecks hell with armies that have no such ability to counter the initiative drop.
