Female marines, aka plastic SOB

everyone is constantly infuriated by the lack of plastic sob models, but wouldnt space marines be great sob? All the equipment is there, then you can just plonk a female head of some kind instead of a helmet and voila. Sure the space marines are too big, but "small girl in big armour" has aesthetic appeal, have a look at the/google "bombardier bombshell" model as an example.

For making them look female, you could model breasts, but its un-necessary since the suit is big enough to accommodate anything. Putting unrelated heads could work, along with feminine paint schemes if you are willing to lose a bit of grimdark.

to make it easier to do the sisters in power armour look, has anyone looked at meow meow minis' store? theyre now selling female space marine scaled legs/torsos/heads/shoulder pads to do this. you just need the normal arms, guns, backpacks and bases to finish the model.  there's a plain "boob'd" torso, one with the imperial eagle (it would be my preference), and an assault marine's strapped torso variant.  there's also a packs of static, charging, and kneeling legs.  the kneeling legs can also be bought in packs of 5 for those that like doing heavy weapons teams in the careful aiming pose. the head options are nice, but i dont like the ascetic of the helmet heads; looks too much like the one character in Berserk.

here's the link for anyone interested in taking a peek: http://www.meowmeowminis.com/

I think the main reason for wanting plastics is more about a good codex or just getting one period. I think good things are on the horizon with the fast releases now coming and most committed SoB players are willing to wait. So while we wait, we hope, dream and talk about what we would like in hopes that someone at GW is reading our posts. But this, of course, is just my humble opinion. Happy Gaming sweat.gif

Heh, even I remember those. Still have some.

Anyone else getting a little suspicious that we're going to get out codex one unit entry at a time through these Munitorium e-releases? Might explain why they didn't float our codex as an official pdf.

I really hope not, but if it is either that or nothing, I would rather that. An update is an update, no matter how poor.

Care to disambigulate your appearent non-sequitur?

We were talking about Sisters re-releases so it seemed an appropriate place to put a post theorising our codex woes.

GW have started releasing 0.99p e-booklets on their digital store for Android, Kindle and Idocs or whatever the apple thing is called, each focussing on a single aspect of 40k - for example, at the moment they're doing Eldar wargear and Dark Angel characters.

For 0.99p you can have an ebooklet detailing the history, fluff, and game rules of... a Banshee mask, for example, or a Shuricat, or Asmodai.

I was not aware of this. Any new rules?

Feels like a really weird distribution model, I stuggle with why someone would want just the Banshee mask for example.

Maybe GW is planning on "bullying" lexicanum down so they can do a version of their own, 99p per article.

For years people have asked for 'looseleaf sheets' to update their codices, maybe this is that? I'd be ticked off if it was essential and only digital though, I very strongly prefer my minigaming to be tangible and 'low tech'. Folk who bring their tablets to the table tick me off, it's so much more difficult to have a cross referenced rules conversation on a tablet than it is with tangible books and 'digital people' invariably haven't studied enough and get it wrong.

GC08 did something similar with scouts and made a nice looking and believable army.

If you have some fitting female heads it would look pretty cool as well.

thanks Fibonacci, i appreciate the kind words.

i made a tutorial, if could be altered to make them more 'female' i guess.

anyway if it helps in any way, please feel free to use it.
