he_plays_guitar
I'm doing a Legion of the Damned theme for my army. You can follow my progress on my Blog here: http://painthammerstudios.com/?p=305 Here are the WIP pictures of the Rhino. I will be adding some Greenstuff flames to fill in the space between some of the skulls. I'm planning on doing a few rhinos and razorbacks, maybe using magnets to allow predator sponsons, so I'll make sure to take pictures of the process. Here are the pics: http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e198/wailingfrycook/DSC_0751_zps45991512.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e198/wailingfrycook/DSC_0748_zps8c97c616.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e198/wailingfrycook/DSC_0747_zps0640888c.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e198/wailingfrycook/DSC_0745_zps1be46b8e.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e198/wailingfrycook/DSC_0744_zps5db157d1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/276517-legion-of-the-damned-rhino-wip/ Share on other sites
he_plays_guitar
I gathered all the skulls I had and created a simple mold using "Amazing Mold Putty" and then casted the skulls in resin until I had enough to cover the rhino. I did the same for the Imperial Sector building details I used on the front, back, and sides of the rhino. Using the Amazing Mold Putty is easy, you mix the two parts together and roll the putty onto whatever you want to make a mold of. It dries in about 20 minutes. Here is what the mold looks like: http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e198/wailingfrycook/DSC_0753_zps8bec4593.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/276517-legion-of-the-damned-rhino-wip/#findComment-3388556 Share on other sites
Gawain Veteris
This is looking glorious and macabre! Jay Taint
Now this is amazing. I've been toying around with the idea to cast skulls from a mold for quite some time now, but this makes me want to really get into it, now! I reckon the interesting part is handling the resin and the actual casting process ... It would be awesome if you could provide some more detail about how you did that?On topic: Your Rhino looks awesome! On topic: Your Rhino looks awesome! Make sure you upload pictures if you've got it painted. I would be happy to show how I casted the skulls, it's surprisingly easy to do. Just mix resin part A with resin part B in equal amounts, stir it, and pour it in the mold. it heats up and dries in about 10-15 minutes, and you pop out your brand new sheet of skulls! Rinse and repeat (you don't need to rinse.) I'll put up some pics of the process soon!
