So, I'm not going to provide all 9 pages, but here are the first three pages of my "Master Space Wolves Army List" that I have built in excel, just to show what the output looks like. It was a bit of a trick to migrate from excel to PDF to JPG, but here you go:

I find the output much easier to read and reference during a game than what AB used to provide.

I am telling you that the data files no longer contain the special rules, but instead direct the user to reference the appropriate codex.  You can try and push a strawman and misdirect to the music and entertainment industry, which has cracked down on p2p sharing as much as they can, but that does not deny the fact that GW has gone after companies such as Chapterhouse when it comes to their IP.  In the case of Army Builder, they were given notice regarding how the data files were previously being written and adjustments were made to keep the product on the shelf.

Army builder rocks! Completely saves time and is great format for tournaments. When ever I see a hand written list these days the first thing I think is "not another points cheat!"

Funny, I think the same of the AB user lists, because everything is in a terrible format and hard to read, there are always inconsistencies and errors, and then they usually flout the AB version of certain rules over the BRB/codex, at which point I clearly point out they're wrong and they get all huffy about it. It inspires laziness and a point-and-click mentality in nearly everyone that uses it, and that's just not good. dry.png

This is just my own experience. I will never use AB or another program. I prefer to keep my mind sharp and knowledgeable. msn-wink.gif

Yes, you have to double check. But for me it has been pretty accurate. Makes less mistakes than I do and saves me time. Time is gold for me. with a very busy RL.

I can relate to that between family and a busy career....

I remember when AB did their "adjustments" to keep the GW vultures from circling.

Strawman great call on the L. fallacy, Brother Ramses.

That might have been the case when the files were written with a quick summary of the rule to reference on the sheet which was almost all of the time not verbatim and completely based upon the interpretation of the file writer. However, when the new style of Army Builder has for example,

"Wolf Claws: See page xx Codex Space Wolves"

You really can't argue the rules a different way then written which by the way is not limited to Army Builder users alone. Plenty of times I have read typed out lists whose point values are wrong and whose owners were completely off on the RAW of their army.

I finally broke down and got a copy of Army Builder.

Are there any errors when building a SW army that I should be aware of? Anything you folks have noticed that might be important to know when using the software for building a space wolves force?

It depends on where you get your datafiles from, but if you're using the Army Builder auto-update function i suspect you have the files written by the guys at

http://www.ab40k.org/. If so, you can go to their webpage forums for all of the latest bug-reports and fixes. The only current flaws in the Space Wolves section of the files I'm aware of are:

- the inability of Wolf Guard to be dragged to the squad you want them joined to (and that's a limitation of the AB software, not the data files).

- the inability to designate Bjorn as your warlord, which they're waiting on an FAQ to rule on.

- and Masters of the Pack gets a little twitchy when applied to Space Wolf HQs in Allied detachments and 2nd Primary detachments.
