Hear da Lamentation
Hi, I will be playing against Chaos for the first time in a week. My friend will be playing a heavy "zombie biker" list with one big unit with a Lord and Priest in it. One rule question ... the weapon the Chaos Lord has (dont know name) which makes you take a toughness test (if you receive an unsaved wound) or "be removed as a casualty". I take it the Eternal Warrior has no effect on this rule ... and you still get taken off the board? How about the flamer part of the weapon .... he tells me you can put the template within 12" of the Lord and it is AP3 !!! THAT sounds nasty ! Bit of advice ... how does our Thunderlord (ra,ss,th) stand up to their Chaos Lord? It would seem a match at the moment (as his weapon is AP4). those T6 bikers seem pretty nasty though .... Any general advice on how to take these guys out? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/276773-rule-question-and-some-advice-chaos-army/ Share on other sites
prestorjohnmd
That mace is called the black mace and it acts a lot like Jaws does. If you fail your test your off the board with no love from saga of the bear. With all that tough 6, I would be tempted run a bunch of pods with combi plasma, on primarily power armored wolf guard. Maybe drop a wolf priest in one with runic armor and a talisman (to block psychic powers). He will give preferred enemy on the bikes (help get that plasma from getting hot and re roll failed wounds of 1). Maybe put a priest in another to frustrate the sorcerer and get lucky with jaws. Try to juice the bikers before they start to frustrate your mood. That Ap3 Template thingy your talking about is the Burning Brand of Skalathrax or something like that. It has torrent , so he can drop it 12 inches away and toast your power armor. Whenever I play vs Chaos I like to put one wolf guard in terminator armor in hopes he can block both the burning brand and the heldrakes templates, but it doesn't always work. The thunder lord can whup the chaos lord in one round if your lucky, but odds are you will probably have to take 2 tough tests and for sure take 1. Wolf lord is tough 5 so he has to roll a 6 to get busted, its not pretty but I would take those odds if it were me, the hard part part usual is getting him there in one piece without putting a good chunk of points into T wolves. 10 Fenrisian wolves could work to move him especially if you roll night fight. Long fangs may come in handy depending on what he has to hold down his home objectives; cultists? Combi flamers will lean them out. If he holds them in reserve try to keep your flamers in reserve until the timing is right. Watch out for those psychic powers sorcerer can get up to 3 if he wants, invisibility can really hurt, and some of those nurgle powers are ok. Hope this helps, good luck, let me know how it goes! Roma
Pry he doesnt take a murder sword with his lordal vs wolf lord. It ap1, double user strenght(so 8) vs 1 target chosen at the start of the game. If he is taking a black amce, odds are he is taking a daemon prince (which combined with the mace, will eat you lord AND ESPECIALLY your infantry). Make sure you have an aegis_lots of bolters tot ake him down and let the LF deal with him. I would read their codex takes about 30 min. Ghostwolfalpha
I play a lord with those very same weapons. TWC and massed missile fire can put him down as long as you can thin the squad he is with. Put a vindicator in their path and it will put them in the ground. I like to run at least one in my lists and with the TWC moving up with it, they can pull off a nice one two combo. The vindicator softens up the unit then the TWC finishes it off on the charge. Those two units in particular draw a lot of fire, so be careful with placement and use cover whenever possible. Otherwise drop pod a bunch of stuff in on one of their flanks and rush the tank and TWC toward the other. With that much target saturation, you opponent will be hard pressed to deal with it all.
