maverike_prime
Okay, so I got a little bored and started rooting around my bitz boxes. I ran across a pair of Dark Vengeance Terminators and some Forge WorldUltramarine terminator shoulder pads. So I thought "Hey why not? I'm a good converter. I bet I can convert these Dark Angeled Termies intoUltramarine Termies. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x2b8DOW_pz4/Uboa9W7ZR9I/AAAAAAAAAws/jwgdixvj-5o/s320/SAM_0283.JPG Here is the first one. I had to carve down the shoulder so it would allow the Forge world shoulder pad to fit on it. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EJS5cPrPPu8/Uboa9Ywa_XI/AAAAAAAAAwo/-BaKVD4B6UE/s320/SAM_0284.JPGhttp://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_0Yx3jqy3co/Uboa9ZFrVPI/AAAAAAAAAww/86aN1G1eXpU/s320/SAM_0286.JPG The chainfist was adorned with very Dark Angel-ly iconography so it had to go. Only problem was that same iconography was laying across thecable going to the chainfist so I had to re-craft that lost segment. I used a segment of wire with the insulation cut into segments. Surprisingly it worked out really well. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_yb_0ed3tl8/Uboa-NEbJDI/AAAAAAAAAxE/mzwAbQHsdJ0/s320/SAM_0287.JPG The assault cannon armed terminator was a bit more of a challenge. The amount of small details on the model made it difficult to effect anychange quickly and I found myself having to work very slowly over an extended period of time for little noticeable change to the model. Thebest example of this approach is the feathers that had previously hung under the body of the assault cannon. I didn't want to have to rebuildthe under carraige of the cannon so I went for a minimalist modification and only removed what I had to. In this case the feathers on thecannon. I decided to keep the hanging skull as decoration. For the moment I am leaving the hanging sword icons between the legs (that sounds like a dick joke just waiting to happen) simply because Ican't easily remove them with out being forced to replace them with something else. Which I may do. I might add some purity scrolls orperhaps a different tabard. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WbEm6VeRNTw/Uboa-OER-DI/AAAAAAAAAxA/HSR2-0SUUrQ/s320/SAM_0288.JPG Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/276873-some-busy-work-kind-of/ Share on other sites

I agree with what you said on the blog - Drakenhof Nightshade is a great way of getting a good dark blue (I've been using it a lot lately) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/276873-some-busy-work-kind-of/#findComment-3394251 Share on other sites
maverike_prime
So I finished the squad. First up we have the sergeant: http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/SAM_0387_zpscab1d0b1.jpg Obviously the feather head dress had to go. And carving the feathers out on the shoulder. I left the icon on the shoulder. It's generic enough that it'll work no matter what colors go on the model. I replaced the default arm with an arm from the Black Reach termi. So end result is basically the same model but with out the Dark Angel iconography. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/SAM_0391_zpsc401780c.jpg Next we have the last member. This is the second of the 'twins' in the DV set. This one I went all out with it. I replaced the entire front of the model with a Power armor torso which required a lot of shaving and carving to make the torso mate with the DV termi body. I replaced the arm with a straight arm and added some blast effects on the barrels. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/SAM_0392_zpsdf4bbe45.jpg Squad prepared! Hopefully the weather will cooperate with me and I'll be able to prime them in the next couple days. We'll see. maverike_prime
Yeah I know it's been about six months since I worked on these guys. I've been busy. I've got an entire Apoc game to get set up for. But I have been working on various stuff. These termies are one such project.
