Voodoo_Prince
Hey guys, Just curious as to what everyone else does for their Grey Knight bases? As I have come to a hault and can't decide what I should do. Thanks. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277013-basing-help/ Share on other sites
jeffersonian000
Personally, I hate seeing a scenic base not match the table, like a green grassy base on a desert or urban ruin, or worse yet, a space ship! Since my army these days is a Grey Knight Ghostwing, and TDA can teleport into battle, I've done their bases up like Transporter Pads from Star Trek, only with the outer edge color coded to each squad for easy unit identification (white for Mordrak and his Ghosts, blue for the Libby, shades of red for the GKT, shades of green for the PAGK, dark blue for the Stormraven, etc). Brother Maikel
For my GK I use spackle (aka wall filler/polyfilla) painted as a daemonic hellscape/lava base. My Guardsmen/Inquisition minis get dark grey gravel bases made using small/medium grain ballast, and my Blood Angels are all on tan-colored desert bases (using the same ballast). I often use cork board as rocky outcroppings, painted grey. I don't have any good photos of my GK bases, but here's a blurry one. You can kind of make them out. Also, here's a decent photo of the sand-desert bases with some cork rocks I use for my BA (Furioso Libby on the left) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277013-basing-help/#findComment-3396694 Share on other sites
Selleck
I based my Grey Knight on a "broken temple floor" base with a LITTLE grass-patch here and there, for color. drou feov
I've been basing mine on a living chaos terrain. It consists of writhing flesh-colored tentacles, bone spikes, eyes and sharp-fanged mouths sprouting everywhere... And of course pools of blood, puss and goo in general. An imperial world constructed of white stone is slowly being consumed by the living, daemonic earth and is sinking to it. Some of my models wade knee deep in the monstrosity, some stand on the slowly sinking stones and pillars. In the long run I'll be constructing a realms of battle board, half of which is gooey chaos terrain, spreading towards imperial bunkers and ruins. Preston10K
The GW basing kit is a good start, give you a lite decoration on what ever you chose. Mine is a ruble stye ruined city, although Grey it really does seperat from the model.
