Wolves and Angels

Hello Everyone.

Myself, my patner and some friends are planning a big game over the next few days.

I am planning on unleashing the Wolves and m partner is going to allying with me using her Blood Angels for the first time. We are due to be playing Necrons and Tau (fully expecting Riptide Spam!)

Do you guys have any advice as to what to field? Any suggestions on allying with Angels or any suggestions on what to do against nasty Necron Flyers?

Also my only point of contention that has to remain in the list is Arjac and his unit of Angry Wolf Guard :-)

Thanks in advance.

Sigvard

Not sure if you have these models or not but a hyperios air defence battery beats necron flyers. On top of that stick in a command platform and you can have split fire special rule. multiple necron flyers per town droping!

Hyperios defence battery:

you can have 1-4 at 35P each ( which is cheap as chips ) 48* str 8 AP 3. Special Rules - Skyfire Intercepter and HEat Seeker + a command platform to shoot different targets. and may be an aegis defence line with the quad gun as well.

The Command Platform (+10pts, reduce the unit from 4 shots to 3 shots, then split one shot off to a second target) is a waste of points, IMO.  And that's assuming your group even allows it to work (Split Fire requires a successful Leadership test, which Artillery is ill-equipped to pass).

There's only 2 riptides and the second one is your fault entirely :p the necron flyers on the other hand...yeah I just like that they're silly cheap and although can't get through armour, can still cause havoc on a board, just have to hope you get skyfire nexus for your objectives and don't move off it *cough* vindicare *cough* :D

RPs with JotWW will wreck the Necrons, and make decent work on the Tau (including the Riptides). Spam GHs in DPs and LFs.

Its better for SWs to ally with BA moreso than the other way around because we lack more basic units in favor of specialized niche units. But for best synergy, have your partner bring the assault and leave you with the support and midfield. Her DCs and assault squad TROOPS will outperform our BCs or similar roles. Imo have her bring DCs in a stormraven with furioso and give your opponents a distraction in your DPing GHs so the stormraven isn't shot down while getting into position.

Tau and Necrons like to form gunlines, so all forms of templates and ignore cover weapons will excel. Also, be sure to bring some pfists or strong heavy weapons to pop any vehicles with quantum shielding.

She is a big fan of Death Company and the assautl marine. She really wants to run Sanguinary Guard as they are so cool. The issue we both have on a regularity is that we both point blank refuse to use Dreads, which can cause problems.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, they are great. We shall take them into consideration.

Stormravens, JotWW, Missile spam, prescience, and whirlwinds all do well vs tau and necron. If you can get a power fist into cc with the riptide, you can hopefully put some wounds on it and tie it up (or kill it) to minimize the amount of ion that hits your guys. Focus fire and make sure to take high priority units off the board first, especially with necrons.

I play SW with BA allies and the BA mobility really helps out. If the tau don't have a ton of intercepter shots, Drop Pods would do well.
