Horus Heresy - Betrayal - Unanswered questions

So after picking up my copy of Betrayal (a fantastic read even if one does not plan on playing 30k), I have some big questions that I have been unable to find answers too, so, without further ado...

1. The Forbidden (Prohibited) Zone

In the two galaxy maps in the book, there is a area between the outskirts of the Segmentium Obscuras and the Ultima Segmentium that is listed as the Forbidden Zone. Now, as all the traitor homeworlds are represented, and aparently as of 30k, it's really irks me that I can't find any fluff referencing this area. Methink's either lost legions or a upcoming plot twist?

2. The Preface

I won't delve to deep into this, but who exactly wrote this and when? I personally am clueless as to who this could be.

I was looking over the map the other day and noticed it said finding of the missing son or was it forgotten son? I forget exactly but it's bottom left corner ish.

No idea what that's about either :)

As for the forbidden zone it could be anything, but as fir the two missing if it is they won't say :p tgere might not even be any thought behind it and it's just a bit of colour/flavour

Well, the Isstvan system is just the other side of the Forbidden zone, so that might be a clue....

As for the preface, well, the writer states that he is an unaugmented human mortal, so that rules out any sort of John Grammaticus type character.....my vote would be for a remembrancer of some sort...the question is whether they mean they were physically present on Tallarn, for instance, or had access to first hand eye witness accounts....

I think the finding of the lost son is Alpharius. That's where he was discovered, which could give an idea of where his homeworld is, if he had one and wasn't found floating through space by a nomadic fleet.

IIRC, the Alpha Legion IA article makes mention of a conglomeration of worlds that Alpharius brought into the Imperium. The problem is finding out which one of those worlds as he denied all of them as his homeworld. And for all we know, it might be true. His homeworld could have been destroyed and that was why he was leading fleets against ships.

Aye, even with that we know nothing. Maybe it was one of the worlds brought in and he kept it hidden which one. Maybe it wasn't and he kept it hidden entirely. Maybe it had been destroyed or some other disaster. Maybe he didn't have one and the fleet he commanded was the one that found him floating around in space. Or another fleet that he kept hidden or was no more.

Absolutely no clue. I just choose to take that blip on the galactic map as the location the Imperium, Horus specifically, discovered him.
