Maulerfiend - need some feedback

Hello!

As the title suggests I'm looking for a bit of feedback on the
maulerfiend I'm building. It's all early stages but I just want some
opinions before I start gluing everything together.

2 parts I'm looking for your opinions on.

1. The base, what do you guys think? My corsairs are on lava themed
bases so I'll be painting up the empty space accordingly. Do you think
the base is too much? Too big and silly?

2. The "flesh". I've included a photo of the fleshy bits, I've went
for a silver metallic with a heavy red wash over it. Do you think this
looks good or would an actual flesh colour (with an odd colour wash)
look better?

Any feedback would be awesome and greatly appreciated!

Also, please excuse the photo quality, iPhones aren't exactly the best thing for these kind of photos

Thanks for the reply.

I'll be adding in some silver and brass on the gear and piston parts to break up the colour.

I haven't added any weathering to the army as a whole although I am considering it as something to start doing (I'm a little OCD when it comes to tying the army together so I'd need to go back and weather everything I've already done). I might set a few weeks aside when I'm finished and add in loads of soot and dust to everything I've already done

I really like the base, definitely don't think it's too much.

As for the flesh, it may just be the pictures or my own personal taste but there doesn't appear to be much contrast/distinction between the two. I'd perhaps darken the armour plating a bit more or find a not so "redish" skin tone. Other than that you've done a great job, looking forward to seeing it progress.
