Iron Warriors post Angels Exterminatus (Spoilers!)

Spoilers ahead!

I have a few questions regarding the Iron Warriors and their reaction to certain scenes in their latest Horus Heresy book, Angels Exterminatus:

1.

What would they have done if Fulgrim had succeeded and killed their Primarch? At this point, the Iron Warriors are still very against Chaos it seems, in that they condemn the Emperors Children, and are fighting purely for moral reasons due to their treatment during the crusade, and guilt over Olympia. However, if Perturabo died, I could see some of the Iron Warriors completely renouncing the Heresy, and either going solo and carving out their own empire, or attempting to rejoin the Imperium. (less likely there, but possible.)

2.

How would the Iron warriors react given what actually did happen, wit Perturabo surviving? Perturabo himself said that he would no longer trust any man besides Horus himself. But could some of the Iron Warriors go so far as to launch punitive crusades against the Emperors Children due to their treachery and corruption, or perhaps leaving the Heresy due to the obvious flaws of some of its members? I'm writing the fluff for my own Heresy Era IW, and I'd love to throw some details in there about temporarily siding with loyalists to destroy some EC, before resuming war with the loyalists. The IVth seems to be a very bitter and vengeful lot. If they could hate the Fists for taking glory, I could see them hating the Children just as much for directly betraying and trying to kill their primarch.

I'm just wondering how they missed one of their most important members getting killed when he went to help their "allies".
I've been thinking, what if Fulgrim had actually died in the theater? I'm imagining the Emperor's children would have blamed the iron warriors, so they would have proberbly beaten each over bloody before one was destroyed or both so mangled to be little help at terra.

I think that the iron warriors may hate the emperors children, but they hate the emperor more. Imagine ~200 years of grueling trench warfare, most normal men would break after a year or two. Even with the enhanced psychological strength of being an astartes would begin to crumble after time. What is the source of the cracked psyche? The imperium. I had deeper dislike for people who made myself hell than I have had for people who whooped my butt in a fight. Not all wounds are physical.
