skeletoro
Looks good to me!! If you wanted to take it to the next level you could do a couple of line highlights on the raised edges. Maybe Fenrisian for the armour and mithril silver (whatever it's called now, the light coloured one) on the gold. But ultimately, that takes more time and if you are looking to paint quite a lot of models, you might very well prefer to skip that step. It looks good as it is and is easily tabletop quality. Once you base it, it'll look much better. Basing makes a huge difference. Angelofdeath8950
Awesome thanks for the input the plan is for an 1850 list and I will need some help on list building as well for a pretty competitive list this army is for a local tourney and it will be my first one so I do want to come in and have a decent looking army that can beat face. But what color for basing should I go with Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277541-need-a-little-push/#findComment-3405011 Share on other sites
skeletoro
Not sure! I'm trying to figure out that one myself. I like the idea of putting snow on the base because it fits the Space Wolf theme. However, if there's a specific gaming table you're planning on playing on a lot, perhaps it would be wise to match it. At the moment, I'm leaning towards some kind of alpine forest world in early Spring. That is, a fair bit of rock, but some static grass etc (which makes things interesting), and spots of snow here and there (the snow is starting to thaw but there's still plenty around. If you want to go with a more traditional space wolf basing scheme I'd suggest you go mostly rocky, painted grey, but use some extremely subtle green and purple washes on the rocks to make them a bit more interesting and less monotonous. Keep it very subtle, but I've heard that works really well with grey stone. For the snow, you can use baking soda and water to make a paste, but I'd recommend you find a good online guide for that technique if you want to get the best results. There are also some other options, such as snow flock, either glued straight on, or mixed with PVA or "water effects" (essentially just perfectly clear PVA glue). LOTS of options though! Space wolves have been known to occasionally take the fight away from snow worlds. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277541-need-a-little-push/#findComment-3405014 Share on other sites
Angelofdeath8950
Yeah I haven't a clue what to do for basing which is sad lol right now I'm really trying to focus on putting together five pods and 50 grey hunters lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277541-need-a-little-push/#findComment-3405052 Share on other sites
Valerian
Look through the painting and modeling thread that's pinned to the top of The Fang until you find something that you like. There are thousands of photos of Space Wolves there and lots of different basing options. pedrogzc
It looks good! Nice model, just finish him and rest of squad. If you want, line highlight could make it sharper. Have you use green wash to simulate "patina" in bronze and metal parts? Be careful because it has run in the fur and surroundings. Angelofdeath8950
No I have never used a green wash on the golds before but I will def try it my friend. I just picked up 7 thunder wolf cav to go with everything so all in all I'm hoping they fit in a competitive 1850 list. Does anyone have any idea's they could shoot at me? I mean I think I will have the basics right but after that I'm kinda clueless. Grimtooth
I am using Secret Weapon Miniatures ruined temple bases because I figure that whatever world the Wolves are fighting on, they will be ruining some temples.
