Groble
so me and my freind both got back into palying 40k recemtly after a big gap. so we both started new armies (both chaos) and i personally found chaos v chaos boring we could feel the same stuff and it was just a bit repetitive (after a few games) i then happened to come into possesion of a few space marines. i settled on ultramarines because i had been reading the ultramarine omnibus.dug out a few old models and set about writing my first 2000 point army list. its not the best list in the world but iv never been great with lists. this is the list Marneus callgar, Armour of Antioch Captain with storm sheild power axe and artificer army Legion of the damned squad flamer srg had power weapon plasma pistol termie assault squad Ironclad dread with hurricane bolters 2x hunter killer missiles and seismic hammer 1 tactical squad melta gun multi melta drop pod 1 tactical squad plasma cannon flamer rhino 1 tactical squad flamer ML rhino 10 man assault squad 2x flamer srg had plasma pistol 5 scouts heavy bolter whirlwind we played a scenario game of our own devising. a take and hold style scenario basically the dread scout squad and captain are holed up in a sm outpost the chaos were bunkered up out the front. the rest of my forces were in reserve. the fort was armed with a servo manned lascannon. my tactic was to deploy the scouts and captain on the wall to at least take out a few men before my reinforcements come. the ironclad deployed by the main gate waiting for anything to come in. on my first turn i dropped my drop pod in the complex courtyard so they could help man the walls. the enemy advanced and we traded fire for a couple of turns my reinforcments failing to turn up. marneus deepstriked in with his termies on turn 3 and the rest turn 4. by this time i had abbandoned the walls with the captain iron clad and lone scout pulling back to the courtyard the walls taken by bezerkers and normal csm. my reinforcements got torn to shreds by lucky rolling from my opponent and very unlucky roles from myself. by the end of the match. i had all my transports intact. lotd were destroyed 1 tactical and assault squad were destroyed. the capatain died fighting off abadon. the lone scout surrvived and held the fort on his own. the iron clad charged out the gate to be destoryed. 1 tac squad remaind intact decimating a squad of 20 marines in shooting and combat. the last squad was down to 4 and marneus and the assault termies were heading back to reinforcde the castle. he still had most of his army left. but was our most enjoyable game so far. things i learned: -my dice rolling is appaling. - My list needs tweaking (the assault quad were POOR as was the whirlwind) - i should support my units more however really enjoyed myself and am now looking forward to my army coming back for more hopefully next week in a straight up battle (no home grown scenarions) my tactics will change just need to re work list. i have some sternguard on the way. i need to make a good Uriel Ventis models and id love a land raider to get old marneus to the enemy. any advice on my list would be brilliant but for a first outing for the marines i was proud COURAGE AND HONOR Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277542-first-battle-with-ultramarines/ Share on other sites
