Dono1979
Whilst this diary is reasonably old, it was originally over on WAU, but now that B&C allows IG, I thought I would bring across an abridged version for those who were interested. This is my second army, the first being my Templars, together they become reasonably interchangeable for Apoc games and also Tyrant's Legion lists, also hoping that it will fit reasonably smoothly into the upcoming Imperial Army list from forge world's Horus Heresy. The Fluff: Under the command of Colonel Drache, a combined Imperial Guard force made up of the 84th Vengeance and 31st Brimlocks launch a campaign to begin reclaiming worlds lost to the Tau in the Damocles Gulf. Targeting Kildrech as an initial insertion point for the invasion the Imperial Guard forces decimate the unprepared Tau presence on the world, securing it within weeks and creating a beach head to stage further sorties into the surrounding system. During cleanup operations and the securing of a base of operations, a reconnaissance force from the 31st Brimlocks discovers an abandoned Black Templar keep. Knowing that there are Black Templar forces on campaign in the Sector (Punishment Crusade) Colonel Drache immediately informs the Astartes Chapter of the discovery via Astropathic comms, thinking that an active Templar Keep would be beneficial for the defence of their own base of operations. The communiqué is acknowledged and within weeks two thunderhawks arrive, delivering a contingent of Marines led by Castellan Gerard to reclaim and reactivate their slumbering fortress. Whilst an excellent commander, Gerard’s latest Crusade met with the loss of more than 90% of his force, his assignment to Kildrech was meant as a ‘soft’ mission. No more than three days later, the Tau forces launch a surprise counter attack, catching the Imperial forces completely unprepared and causing huge casualties amongst the scattered Guard units. Gerard immediately reports the situation to the High Marshal and prepares the defences. Rallying to the Templar Keep, the remaining Guard forces form a defensive perimeter around the ancient fortress using it as a solid backing to their defence. The Templars, whilst few in number, within the Keep spread themselves amongst the Imperial lines, lending superior force to the fight. By the time the Templar Techmarine managed to coax the Keeps Machine Spirit into activity and bring the void shields online, the Imperial losses are huge. Even with the mighty defences of the Keep and their Astartes allies, the combined regiments of the Imperial Guard begin to buckle under the continuous Xenos onslaught. Weeks of sorties and defensive counter attacks reduce both Guard regiments to under quarter strength a piece and the Templars themselves have lost fully half their numbers, with no Apothecary in the Keep the loss of the gene seed is devastating. Although the Tau took equal, if not more, losses their numbers seemed unending and it would only be a matter of days before they breached the citadels defences. Five weeks into the siege, the Tau forces gather themselves for a final assault, committing all their reserves to the attack; the defenders brace themselves for the coming end. However, before the Tau assault gathers any momentum, the sky splits as a Black Templar Strike Cruiser Crusading Star, bursts through the Tau naval armada and into the atmosphere while the rest of the Templar ships engage the Xenos in Orbit.Like flaming black rain the entire Black Templar force aboard the Crusading Star deep strikes from the crippled ship directly into the midst of the assaulting Tau. Drop Pod after Drop Pod hammers into the midst of the Tau forces and Templar Thunderhawks carrying heavy armour descend and release their zealous payloads in hastily secured landing zones. Seizing the opportunity the besieged Imperial Forces rally out and smash into the shaken Tau forces, within hours the Xenos scourge is broken and flees. Even as the last remaining resistance is being crushed the, now, Marshal Gerard of the newly formed Kildrech Crusade summons Colonel Drache to his forward command post. The Templar Marshal thanks the General for his sacrifice for the Emperor and grants him and all his surviving troops the honour of baring the Templar Cross upon their heraldry so that all would know of his valour. In addition he grants them the ultimate honour of serving with and under the command of the Kildrech Crusade, leaving no room for doubt that the Templars had just seized control of all Imperial Guard elements.Gerard is not going to allow a repeat of the doomed Olay Crusade and is determined to fulfil the Crusade by any and all means necessary. The recruits will have the Torso's from Maxmini. The Ministorum Preists will be from Zealot Miniatures. Ok started work on some of the easier models (as I am trying to watch a 10 week old puppy at the same time). I wasnt getting much luck because all the supporting arms are different depending on the main gun being held. I really didnt want to have to magnetise both arms as they never seem to line up nicely enough and if I am going to go to that much trouble, thinking of just making all the varities in full form anyway. the other thing I was thinking was that the walking squad would rarely have Melta guns so I could just give them flamers and grenades. The chimera squad would probably only ever have flamers or meltas, same as the valk squad. Not sure what to do. -Dono Just did a quick mock up of the main banner for the regiment, the colours represent; white on the base for the recruits being drawn up into the Regiment, Red on the left to represent the Fire Support and Garrison elements of the regiment, Blue in the top for the airborne divsion, Yellow on the right for the mobile and recon units. The black cross represents the command structure and homage to the Black Templars whom the regiments fights alongside. I am then wanting the banner to be pretty weathered and decorated similar to the Cadian one below it. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/KildrechIG.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/cadiabanner.jpg EDIT: Got some mockups of the Platoon/Squad banners as well, The first three are the Veteran sqauds there division colour plus black for veteran plus the black cross. The last three are the recruiting squads, white shields, so their divisional colour over white with a blank white shield. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SquadAbhor.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SquadZeal.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SquadRighteous.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SquadPity.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SquadPenance.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SquadPain.jpg -Dono Managed to get a little bit more done in between puppy training and suchlike, I really like the look of the Kromlech torso's on the Veterans, just something a little different to the regular old GW Cadian torso's. The Pulse Rifles are getting a little difficult to pose, the supporting hands are few and far between. considering arming the recruits with normal lasguns with bayonets to seperate them out from the veterans even more. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/061.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/059.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/058.jpg -Dono Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277545-1st-kildrech-crusaders/#findComment-3405053 Share on other sites
Dono1979
Started work on the Mobile Squad (all the models will be in motion) last night and managed to get a few done, now waiting on some more pulse rifles to be delivered and/or the maxmini torso's to start on the Recruits. Tried to make the heavy weapons crew moving the gun to fit with the rest of the squad, not quite what I was picturing in my mind but I am pretty happy with them. Once Korocite paints them up I am sure they will look pretty good. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/014-4.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/012-3.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/011-3.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/005-8.jpg Also did the Overseer for the Psyker Battle Squad, I wanted to try and make him pretty haughty and arrogant, just my way of picturing him. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-8.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/001-8.jpg And lastly did a couple of the drill sergeants who will be leading the Recruit squads (counts as penal Legions), again I wanted to make these guys a little cocky like unlike the rough and dirty Veterans. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/007-9.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/008-7.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/009-5.jpg CheersDono The first free weekend in a long time! Managed to get a couple of hours modeling done this morning and will hopefully get some more done after lunch as well, looking to try and get the Command Squads completed and maybe even one of the Veteran Squads. Here is the Company Command Squad completed less some trimming of green stuff, attaching some sniper scopes on the three snipers and the trimming of the customised sniper rifles. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/001-9.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-9.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-10.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/004-10.jpg Moving onto the mobile command squad now. CheersDono Got a little busier than I thought I would during the day but still managed to finish the other Command Squad, this one if the Mobile Field Command made up of 4 Special Weapons Veteran (plasma is this load out, though they are magentised and will get meltas as well) plus two Bodyguards all in Carapace armour and riding in a chimera. Dono1979
Somehow I managed to get some more time to finish off the main veteran squad which are all in a running/moving pose. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/004-12.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-12.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-11.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/001-11.jpg -Dono Been a bit of a gap between work, just been plodding away at the regular troopers and also trying to finish off the Black Templar stuff, mainly the jetbikes. I did however get motivated to finish of the snipers using the Zealot Sniper scopes and modeled up one of the two Warrior Priests I bought from them. I changed his mechanical hand around so that he is holding a book up and open, not a huge conversion, but I like the model pretty much like it is. However I think I will stick to just having the one Priest in the army, so I will try and off load the second one. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/001-12.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-12.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-14.jpg All righty the emphasis is back on the IG now that the Black Templar Jetbikes have been done. I managed to get an entire squad of White Shields (counts as Penal Legion and Platoon Squads) completed, they took a little longer than I had hoped. I have to shave a little off the torso's to fit the arms, but also finding it safer to pin the arms in place as well. The below squad has one magnetised trooper which can then be equipped with a Flamer or Grenade Launcher instead. The Sergeants banner arm is also magnetised to help with transport. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/001-13.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-14.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-16.jpg Here are some of the pics: My Storm Troopers http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/010-11.jpg Tarantula Sentry gun in bunker http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/009-14.jpg Assaulting Veteran Squad http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/005-17.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/004-19.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-21.jpg Firing Veteran Squad http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-19.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/001-17.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277545-1st-kildrech-crusaders/#findComment-3405055 Share on other sites
Dono1979
Got my two Arvus Lighters completed today as well.... http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/001-22.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-24.jpg The Grey Knight Falchions arrived yesterday which allowed me to finish off the Storm Trooper squads (2x) which are basically cadian bodies with FW shotguns and Elysian Grav Chutes with Cadian Hostile environment heads. The Sergeants are actual Kasrkin with head replacements and grav chutes added as well, plus some weapon changes. I got the models largely pre built in a bulk buy and simply modified them a little (mainly the addition of the grav chutes and weapon swaps). Each squad is capable of being armed with two special weapons, melta, plasma or Power weapons (they will be doubling as Marauders in a Tyrants Legion list). http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/009-18.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/007-20.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/006-20.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/005-22.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/004-25.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-27.jpg So started getting a few random things closed off this weekend, like another full platoon with their HWT and some odd Mortar squads. But really was happy to finish up the Imperial Navy Air Support component of the army, its now all ready to go and get painted. Basically made up of; 3 Valkyries/Vendettas, 2 Arvus Lighters, 2 Lightnings and 1 Thunderbolt. Apart from the Thunderbolt, each aircraft has fully magnetised weapons so that they can change their loadout, remove weapon destroyed and single use items. That only leaves three Armageddon Medusa tanks left to build (one of them is nearly done) and that will be all of the vehicles done for the IG! By next weekend I would really like to have gotten the Infantry Platoon completed; platoon command squad, three infantry squads with a HWT each and six Mortar Teams. Would also love to have the Rough Riders completed, only really need to do a bit of greenstuffing and some weapon swaps for half a dozen and they will be done. That would leave; 30 Penal Legion models, 5 Servitors, 24 artillery crew and a few random models to act as Operators for Long Range scanners http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/001-34.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-34.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-35.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/004-32.jpg Well finally buckled down and managed to get the other two squads and the platoon command squad finished. Time to start working on finishing the rough riders and Medusa's and then start work on the penal legion.... http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/001-35.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-35.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-36.jpg Proto type of the Imperial Guard Servitors, very similar to the Black Templar proto type but with the Vic Lamb convict torso, some bionic heads and a few bionic limbs thrown in. Magnetised the arm to allow the change of weapons. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/001-37.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/004-34.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-37.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277545-1st-kildrech-crusaders/#findComment-3405056 Share on other sites
Dono1979
Completed all of the Servitors today, two of them have magnetised arms to swap from Servo arm to heavy weapon, whilst the other three are fixed in place with the servo arms. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out and looking forward to seeing them painted up. Basically that is everything for my Imperial Guard done now except for Artillery crew, which I am waiting on parts. I have decided to use Great Coat legs from Maxmini, with dress uniform torso and heads from Victoria Lamb, also going to use the lasgun arms from VicLamb, really wish I had found those earlier. Apart from that, I might grab an Avenger from Forge World to supplement my Imperial Naval forces and I was playing with the idea of maybe getting some Carriages for my artillery platforms along with some Trojans or other tanks to tow them, but I dont think that I will ever use them, even in apoc games. Anyway here are the photos of the Servitors along with their Tech Priest. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/001-38.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-38.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-39.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/004-35.jpg Had some left over bits and needed a Long Range Scanner. Got four of the FW scanners but probably going to use those as Assets and Battlefield debris rather than an actual unit. So made this guy: http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-39.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-40.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/004-36.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/005-30.jpg A few bits and pieces have finally arrived and so onto trying to finish the last units of the Imperial Guard. I got some more combat torsos from Maxmini to make a half dozen Mortar Squads, they can be used as a couple of Heavy Weapon teams or in the Tyrant's Legion list as a Heavy Weapon platoon option (Mortar is about the only viable choice at BS2!). Tried to put a bit of variety into the poses, although I am rapidly running out of arms which I can use. Thankfully that is the last unit which will need GW IG arms. I also recieved my Artillery gun emplacements from Rictus, which you can see in the background. They will be used to mount either the Earthshaker, Hydra or Manticore turrets, a nice little wall to reflect the 3+ armour save the models get. The next jobs are to build 30 Artillery crew made from Vic Lamb Formal dress torso and heads and Maxmini greatcoat legs, plus 20 Penal Legion using Vic Lamb Penal Torso and heads again. Then if I have enough spare parts I will try and make one more Enginseer and five servitors so that I have the full compliment ready for the Titan to arrive. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/004-39.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/005-32.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/006-28.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/010-19.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/011-15.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/014-13.jpg Got the first of two of three super heavies done, the Praetor Armoured Assault Launcher and the Malcador Infernus. I really like the Praetor, it looks like an awesome tank. The Praetor wasnt fully assembled, the armoured side skirting and launching bay are just sitting there, they cant be glued into place without it being painted first. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-47.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-49.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/004-44.jpg Got the Valdor Tank Hunter done, so much detail that will never ever be seen again, venting, piping, dials and stuff that then gets covered over by armour plating or the gun itself. I suppose if people model theres slightly different to the FW template then it might come it use but I felt bad gluing the pieces into place covering up these details. I couldnt decide whether to have a hatch gunner or not, so I magnetised the gunner legs and the hatch floor and made two, plus the hatch closed. Pretty happy with it actually, lots of ability to change weapon loadouts, all of the sponson are magentised like the Infernus and I can buy (or not) a heavy stubber and also represent a weapon destroyed result there. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/004-45.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-50.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-48.jpg So there was some serious restructuring over the past couple of months with both of my armies, but largely with the Imperial Guard component. There were a few things which were bothering me about the IG army I had assembled and a number of other factors: - It contained Psykers - Some of the models did not mesh well with the rest of the feel of the army - Some units could only be used for GW Codex IG - I was running out of money to pay for their painting!! With the release of Imperial Armour One 2nd ed and the Armoured Battlegroup list the restructure became a reality as I culled the units. I decided to stick with my over riding them of NO psykers in any army I field. I also decided that the primary army for the collection is going to the Space Marine Legion Crusade, any other components of my collection need to be able to fit in at least two roles/army lists to be kept. Apart from the Legion Crusade list, my secondary lists have become the Tyrants Legion and the Armoured Battlegroup, I don't intend to field a GW IG list in the near future. The units that then got removed: - Psyker Battle sqaud - Primaris Pysker - Command Advisors - 20 Penal Legion - 30 Artillery Crew (to be replaced by something latter one, I just wasnt happy with the result) - 3 Manticore Turret (not happy with the look, got replaced with something else) - 12 Ogryns (10 got reassigned to be Thallax, the two sergs culled) - 20 Snipers - Marbo The new list will be largely fluid, moving between Tyrants Legion and Armoured Battlegroup but will most likely be used as Imperial Army allies to my Legion marines. Dono1979
I was hoping to get the absolute last of the IG models built this weekend, but unfortunately the Crassus Armoured Transport had missing parts.... like the entire side track sections! Not happy but not much I can do this weekend. I did get everything else done, the alternate Manticores and Hydra platforms plus the Trojan for my Enginseer/Techpriest. Since the Artillery crew and penal legion units arent selling (and I am unhappy in selling them for a loss) I will probably end up keeping them and modifying them a little, putting IG heads on the artillery to start with. But here are the pics of the platforms and the Trojan. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/009-26_zps9b74e962.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/010-22_zps09f4435b.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/011-18_zps02022cb8.jpg The first squad of Storm Troopers are completed along with the initial painting of their airborne rides (weathering not done yet in these photos), painted by Rok ape: http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/StormSerg_zps332d7c61.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/storm_zpsa932e251.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/flyers_zps0f3f9f4e.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277545-1st-kildrech-crusaders/#findComment-3405062 Share on other sites
Dono1979
So the first Platoon (fluffwise, not game mechanics) has been completed, except for the platoon command and their rides. I couldnt wait for them though and brought the rest of the units home. Righteous Platoon is the Airborne component of the 1st Kildrech Crusaders it is made up of: Platoon Command - Veteran Squad - Valkyrie/Vendetta - Chimera Alpha Section: Air Supremacy - 2 x Lightnings - 1 x Thunderbolt (ace Pilot w/ Distinctive Paint Job) Bravo Section: Special ops - Storm Trooper Squad - Valkyrie/Vendetta - Arvus Lighter Charlie Section: Special ops - Storm Trooper Squad - Valkyrie/Vendetta - Arvus Lighter Alpha Section: http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1054_zpse90e977c.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1055_zps4ac38504.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1056_zps5deb1290.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1057_zpscdc41752.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1058_zps017fcd56.jpg Bravo Section: http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1047_zps97314a31.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1048_zps3ce13427.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1049_zpsf99bb6d0.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1050_zps93b90c17.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1051_zps4da7b553.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1052_zps432e3c69.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1053_zpsedf723f3.jpg Charlie Section: http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1040_zpsb1e9cc22.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1041_zpsc969ca91.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1042_zpsa66107e6.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1043_zps11cf51cb.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1044_zps8a298cb0.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1045_zpsd362e183.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1046_zps0dabd7c4.jpg Group Shot: http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1059_zps33323fb2.jpg So I am cross posting these guys because although they will primarily be used as Thallaxi (Ad Mech allies) they originally started out as Ogryns for the main IG army before it moved into a Tyrants Legion and Armoured Battle Group setup. If I ever return to play GW codex armies they will be able return to their original role, but until then they are Brutes in a Tyrants Legion list or Thallaxi in a Legion list. The red is a little washed out in the pics, but all of the others colours are pretty accurate, I am really stoked with the them. I love how Richard (the painter) has used the red and white checker box to tie them into the Titan. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1125_zps6b95b818.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1123_zpsf8e54224.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1124_zps072e189f.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1122_zps338f3a09.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1121_zps6a2be287.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1120_zps8a2a3219.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1119_zps9c80221d.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277545-1st-kildrech-crusaders/#findComment-3405063 Share on other sites
Dono1979
So some artillery emplacements as promised, crew are done but still in transit: http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1153_zps8760d008.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1154_zps9bc156b4.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1155_zps9bd8c827.jpg Now some Hydras and Manticores: http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1156_zps87fe2609.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1162_zps1ab98a58.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1161_zps47bda445.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1163_zps04d6bfcf.jpg And finally the Mobile Command Squad (second highest ranking)http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1164_zps27b7a43d.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1165_zps8ed1d131.jpg Trying in vain to get the last of my IG armour completed before this weekend when Rok Ape (the guy painting my IG) is in town so I can give it to him in person, save me posting and getting charged and possible breakage. Unfortunately it wasnt meant to be, whilst the 8 Mortian Heavy Tanks (using them as counts as Leman russ) arrived there were only four sets of boggy wheels :( Marcus from Heavy Support was extremely apologetic and the replacement are already on their way to me. So instead I will try and get four of them done, plus the three Minotaurs and some minor touches to the Macharius. First up the Macharius with an alternate turret from Blood and Skull Industry, it makes a very affordable way to swap from a standard Macharius to a Vulcan Macharius! http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1187_zps1910ee3f.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1186_zps49932413.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1185_zps4a1ee422.jpg The next set of photos are of the first Mortian Heavy Tank I have put together. Whilst not a five minute assembly like a rhino, it is still pretty straight forwards and nothing overly complex. The bits fit perfectly and sponsons and hull mounted weapons dont even need magnets they fit that firmly. On top of that, you get virtually every possible turret option included, enough to make each of the Leman Russ variants (demolisher and Nova cannon using the same turret, same as vanquisher and battle cannon). It even has the co-axle weapons, a heavy stubber, a storm bolter and a sensor (for when you dont get a weapon). The ONLY weapon missing which is a pity, is a Heavy flamer for the hull mounted set, it only has a heavy stubber, heavy bolter and lascannon. Easy to custom make one though. The sponsons even come off with ease and their are replacement armour plates which literally click into place without the need of magnets! Now while it is slightly bigger than the Leman Russ, it isnt excessively so, here are some shots of it against a Macharius (notice any similarities??) and a rhino. then a shot of each of the turret weapons. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1195_zpse8dff7da.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1196_zps4d353f5c.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1194_zpsc0dfd918.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1193_zps8670f275.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1192_zps0be667f1.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1191_zps2426eb82.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1190_zps9e8fad45.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1189_zps7086a306.jpg The Minotaurs are completed, they are in three main pieces to assist with painting, but they click together for photos easy enough. These three plus the existing Baneblade makes the Hellraker formation.... bring on the rain! http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/SAM_1197_zps25e3fc21.jpg The Minotaurs are completed, they are in three main pieces to assist with painting, but they click together for photos easy enough. Dono1979
Ok, sorry about the disjointed posts, I was trying to cull out all of the chatter and idle thoughts which fluffed out the first diary to 6 pages with other peoples comments and feedback. I will try and clean up the first few posts if they come out badly, the posting box was doing some wierd things while I was cutting and pasting. Effectively this is now up to date. I have a big chunk of infantry back as well now, however they are still packed, I will be getting them all ready for a big Apoc event in about a week and so will take some more army shots when I get them all set up. Looking forward to the new apoc rule to come out and see what new formations there are to play with and whether I need to fine tune the lists anywhere, currently it can field as a IG Codex, Armoured Battlegroup IA and a Tyrants Legion in conjunction with my marines. WarriorFish
That's quite a collection, made all the better for some really good conversions and a great paint job. The camo is a simple but effective scheme and fits all the unit types well. With such a large collection I'm in no doubt you're eager to see the new Apoc rules, may the Emperor have mercy on those who stand against you. Just kidding - kill them all :P Is there any chance you might get some pictures of your upcoming Apoc battle? WarriorFish
Nice stuff! I love the troops with their colour coding, that's pretty clever and looks good. I bet your army looks fantastic as it takes to the table to destroy the Emperor's enemies :D You can get the code to post the images in your posts by clicking the "Options" button in the top right on the image page and selecting "Share links". It's a little cumbersome if you want to select many images but worth it.
