Dono1979
Just wondering whether anyone has used any of the Volkite weapon options from the 30K lists at all? I havent modelled any at all and am wondering whether I should get a few as options before I wind the modeling of the marines up. jeremy1391
They are awesome (especially against soft targets)!! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277564-volkite-weapons/#findComment-3405317 Share on other sites
Tiger9gamer
I have been on the recieveing end of one a few times.... OW. one squad of heavy volkites ripped apart a tactical squad easily (my dice rolls where crap) and helped shred my terminators. Dono1979
Thats really interesting, I would have thought that they were largely ineffective against Marines due to their AP value being so woeful but I have heard quite a lot of reports that they do indeed tear apart squads on regular occasions. Next up is trying to work out whether to get weapon swaps for all four types or just some of the more specialised ones: Serpenta: Centrurions and Praetors (though to be honest you could just use a plasma pistol to count as with the lack of model) Charger: Techmarines Command Squads Terminators Veterans Caviler: Tactical Support Squad Culverin: Heavy Support Squad I'm thinking that the Caviler and Culverin would be the most potent being the higher St and basicaly wounding on a 2+ against Marines, plus they have a better range. I am always a little hesitant of Assault weapons now as taking models away makes the charge harder to achieve. DuskRaider
I absolutely love the idea of Terminators armed with Volkite Chargers. I've started making a squad of 10, and I will most likely do another 10 as well. You lose the versatility of the combi-bolters, but you gain the potential to cause a massive dent in a squad if the dice gods favor you. Combined with the fact that they're being wielded by walking tanks, what could be better? Dono1979
Its a pity that the Termies cant take the Heavy variaty, seems a little weird that the Tactical Support Squad get access to the Cavilers but no one else. And I'd definitely say that the culverins would make pretty decent autocannon replacements. Raven Angel
The trick to killing SM is and always has been making them role lots of saves, not high AP weapons. Volkite like tesla weapons excel at that.
