Storm Eagle + Rune Priest + Iron Priest = ?

So I'm saving up for a Storm Eagle since it seems likely we won't be getting another flyer anytime soon.  I was looking at interesting combinations, and I like the idea of making it a very hard to hit gunship that can repair itself.

To that end, I think one loadout would be w/ a Rune Priest and Iron Priest w/ servitors inside.  I really like the idea of having Njal using his abilities, but that's been ruled invalid from inside a vehicle.  Anyway, I wanted to get feedback on some questions related to this:

1) If the Rune Priest had Codex: Space Wolves psyker powers, could it cast Stormcaller on the vehicle because the FAQ'd text says, with respect to the effect of the power cast by the Rune Priest "he and all friendly units within 6" benefit from a 5+ cover save"?

2)  Presuming I really want to make the Iron Priest excellent at repair by not only giving him servitors, but also Saga of the Iron Wolf, how do the d3 extra inches of movement work?

                 a. Do they have to be in the same direction as the previous movement, or is a turn allowed?

                 b.  Could the Storm Eagle move BACKWARDS d3 inches (possibly helping prevent going off the board by moving too far).  Example: Storm Eagle moves minimum zoom speed to decrease fly off (18"?).  D3 movement from Saga of the Iron Wolf is rolled, Storm Eagle moves backward/sideways D3 inches away from board edge mostly likely to fly off of.

3)  I took the time to saw the old metal Iron Priest model I had in half, filing down the cape in parts, etc. and then pinned it on the back of a Thunderwolf I'd gotten w/ Adeptus Mechanicus insignia, so I currently don't have an Iron Priest on foot.  Can an Iron Priest on Thunderwolf Mount even board a Storm Eagle?  Is it "extremely bulky" or can it just not board?

I realize question 2 seems a bit cheesy, but the D3 extra isn't that exciting to me if it has to be in the same direction with respect to flyers; not bad for a Land Raider, I suppose.

1) Yes.  The Rune Priest can give the Storm Eagle a 5+ Cover save.

2) I would say that the rule adds to the maximum movement allowance of the vehicle, but that is all.

a. A Flyer makes its turn at the end of the movement, so I would say that it is after the Move +d3".

b. You can always move less than your maximum amount (ie backwards).  But you can never move a Zooming Flyer less than 18", doing so Destroys the Flyer.  Also, Flyers must move in the direction they are facing, so no "sideways" movement.

3) Cavalry can not embark a Transport Vehicle, unless it has a specific allowance to do so (which the Storm Eagle does not).
@Fenric You can use the standard Storm Eagle, it's available to Space Wolves. The ROC pattern Storm Eagle is C:SM and Minotaurs only. However, the force org slot has been changed to a Heavy slot in IA:12 compared to what Aeronautica had as a Fast slot.
