Raensleyar
How are wulven perceived by space wolves? I recently read a couple of short stories (pretty bad even for someone interested in space wolves), in which a wulven is hunted down by a lone wolf. Are Wulven seen as a blight and a mark on the Space Wolves and thus, hunted down ... or are they seen as the a positive "evolution" of a Space Wolf? In the codex, it is presented as a "corruption" suggesting that it is more devolution than evolution, but there seems to be a slightly positive take on it as well given you have to pay points for it. It may be the bad writing in the short story, but I am somewhat confused as to the stance Space Wolves have on their werewolf brethren. I ask as I personally don't like the idea of Wulven and would like to set up my Wolf Lord as someone who considers them an abomination, but want to make sure that doesn't make him some sort of apostate amongst the Space Wolves. Grimtooth
Wulfen do not exist anymore in the current codex. The Mark of the Wulfen currently in the codex is not the full blown Wulfen of the old Eye of Terror codex. It only represents the of control when in close combat of the beast within which enhances their attacks. Much, much different then the Wulfen of the 13th Co which were so far gone they could not use ranged weapons anymore and if not led by a Wolf Priest (iirc) had to always move as fast as possible to the nearest enemy. The Wulfen as presented by the various authors that have tackled the subject is even more varied. In one of the Ragnar novels he faces off against a fellow aspirant that turned and ended up killing him in selfdefense. Later on he meets directly with the 13th Co on a daemon world and the old and newly turned Wulfen are servient to the Wolf Lord and Wolf Priest. In one of the audio books, a newly turned Wulfen attacks and kills TWC packmates yet also leads them to a source of Nurgle corruption to only be hunted by the remaining TWC packmember. One of the latest novel brings an entirely new view of a Wulfen type creature. So despite the varied views on Wulfen by authors, the clearest standard to go by is represented in how the rules have differentiated between Wulfen (Codex Eye of Terror) and Mark of the Wulfen (Codex Space Wolves). From there you can draw a better view on how they are viewed. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277589-wulven/#findComment-3405699 Share on other sites
